The Australian Rules Football finals started last night with Adelaide winning easily and looking like premiership favourites at this stage. I'm off to see my Richmond Tigers tonight at the mighty MCG as they take on Geelong in front of 95,000 plus fans. Already had 4 glasses of red at lunch at work. Luckily I work walking distance from the ground. Hence, not much work getting done this arvo. Please post your thoughts on this thread for all things AFL finals. Be interesting to hear other's thoughts about one of the closest seasons ever.

Triple premiership superstar Brad Ottens will be given the honour of ringing the iconic timekeeper’s bell on Friday night at the MCG.

Ottens will be interviewed on ground at 7.20pm before ringing the bell at 7.40pm when the Cats run out.

Richmond haven't beaten Geelong since 2006. Essendon haven't beaten Sydney since 2011. Some may say these records are obstacles,  others may say they are opportunities. I don't care for Port Adelaide's or West Coast's chances. Greater Western Sydney have injuries to key players and form issues, hence I don't see them continuing in the finals series next week.

Tigers might be playing against your Eagles in the prelim westg. The atmosphere last Friday night was crazy.

3 disappointing games considering how incredible the season was. West Coast and Port however, that was an unbelievable finish!!

I'm a cats man, but I think a Sydney v Richmond Grand Final is looking likely, with the swans taking home the chocolates.

i totally agree with you, Richmond and Sydney for the Grand Final, go the Swans :2thumbs:

I used to go to Richmond games with my ex when i lived in Melbourne over 20 years ago and i must say their supporters are really die - hard turning up each week regardless if their team won or not. Very passionate fans good to see , it would be great for them to win but i think Sydney might just get them in the end.

Yeah that've certainly had a rough run, Richmond Supporters. If I'm not mistaken, before Friday, it was 17 years without a single finals win!!

If the Cats can't win, I just want the Grand Final to be a close game! The Hawthorn blow-outs of the last 5 years really soured it for me haha

Nah, the Swans will do what they always do... peak too soon and stuff up in the grand final.

...it's not State of Origin Chris.....you have a chance :D

I thought the swans looked to be the best team running around over the weekend. While I would like Richmond to win it, Swans are my pick.

The Crows look pretty good too. But will need to beat the Swans to make it to the GF. But the swans still need to beat Geelong which is definitely no certainty. Richmond will need to beat Eagles or GWS. It's very even I reckon. I just hope my Tigers win the preliminary easier than a Swans v Crows clash. Hopefully the winner of that one comes out of it all beaten up. Then the Tigers have a chance.

My view on the remaining finalists is that Adelaide, Richmond and Sydney are better placed, form-wise and injury-wise, to make the grand final than Geelong, West Coast and especially Greater Western Sydney. Who knows, Geelong may 'pull out a blinder' and then again, Richmond may panic and have a 'shocker', it's finals footy, as they say, and sometimes anything can happen, but I do think that Adelaide and Richmond are well placed. Sydney vs Geelong is the main game of interest for me this Friday Night.

Looks like we will be playing our usual, "Who has the longest ash?", on Friday night!
