Habana Mike Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Interesting article on the state of US commercial flights to Cuba. Most are backing out, particularly outside of Havana https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielreed/2017/07/07/the-undead-market-long-dormant-u-s-cuba-air-travel-market-still-isnt-alive/#7cfecdc43f5f 1
BellevilleMXZ Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Not really a surprise I guess what with Trump, and really, when you come down to it, the poor conditions at many places in Cuba.
AlohaStyle Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Airlines dropping service started happening well before Trump's reversal. it's still illegal for Americans to visit as a tourist and the majority will not go because of it. Sure many here on the forums and into cigars would happily go and claim People to People tour, or go through another country, but we're in the vast minority. Airlines saw the pot at the end of the rainbow, but realized there's no gold, yet. 2
Customsfan Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Most of the people I've spoken to didn't even know they could travel to Cuba. When I told them I went, they were surprised. And after the Trump announcement, even people like me who want to go again are reluctant. I wonder if Obama's policies was for tourism or actually more so for Cuban Americans. You always hear about tourism.
Habana Mike Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Yeah, a bit of unnecessary fluff and opinion here but the facts are there aren't enough passengers to make the routes profitable. Hope Delta's still going direct from Atlanta this fall.... 1
