KFBR392 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 No beetle that i could find, but the hole looks pretty distinctive. Only one hole in one box so not a big problem but it's got me worried. This is the first instance I've had of something that appeared to be a beetle hole. I've never frozen anything because I store everything in the basement where it doesn't get up past 70°F. This box of secretos that I got along with the box I got a week ago, from our host, or going into the refrigerator and then into the freezer for a few days.
El Presidente Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 It is fairly common. The hatch in the factory before the freezing warehouse kills them. Contact Di for a replacement 4
SCgarman Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I freeze everything. These boxes cost too much to become dinner for beetles. 1

PapaDisco Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Yep! Beetle! Nuthin' duck tape can't fix . . . They reproduce sexually IIRC, so a lone hatchling is limited in how much damage they can do. Had one hatch out of a PSD4 tubo from Germany a few years back, and it basically just keeled over and died. Inside that cigar had another beetle larvae that had been killed by freezing and wasn't going anywhere. Never had another case of the bugs. 1
Islandboy Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I recently discovered a single hole like that in one of my CoRos, which I promptly took a flame to. Pretty amazing the impact that little hole had on draw. I had to smoke it like I was playing a clarinet. 3
