Popular Post GasGuy82
Been a hell of a day. While the plumber was here fixing the leak in the kitchen ceiling from the shower pan upstairs, the washer crapped out and dumped its contents all over the kitchen floors. Finally have a spare moment, never do these reviews, why the hell not? Look in the ready to smoke humidor, I love dalias and lonsdales, let's do one of those. 898 from RAE 14, nah. Dip 1 from '99, only a few left. Ah, SP Molino from '99, let's do that. Keep in mind the dogs heard the wineador open and the chair pull up beside it, this means walk time. Pull out the cigar, proceed to get everyone's leashes. Time for the pre walk routine where the pups have decided they want to go for walk but no one wants to wear their harness. This goes on for about 3-4 minutes. Everyone is hooked up. Pick up my Xikar and realize that some jackass broke the ignition switch over the weekend at my sister's wedding. How about the DuPont? Nope, ran out flint Saturday night. Wood matches it is. One match and we are lit. First puff is like going for a swim in the Med and tasting the sea salt on your lips. All Sancho this one is. Draw is a touch tight but im thinking I might like this resistance. Walking along, hear the train the distance, take another puff, am I going nuts? I'm convinced I just tasted cardamom. Walking along trying to remember if I have tasted cardamom in a cigar before. As the dogs proceed to mark every bush and lawn along the was my mind turns to Rob's insistence on tasting driftwood. What sort of person has put driftwood in their mouth? Around the time the first third is finishing up, we round the bend towards home. I take a puff and get a hint of dark, bitter, almost smoky Mexican chocolate. It's fleeting. These are such odd flavors to come to mind, I don't think I am imagining them. Draw is still a touch tight, I keep thinking that if I could just get a bit more smoke on the draw, the flavors would explode. Only problem is, I don't want to hit this thing like the dude in the back seat of your car who says he has $5 on it if only he can pay you tomorrow. Now we are home, everyone is unleashed and inside with mom looking for treats. I grab and ice water and pull up a chair at the patio table. It's a nice night, low '80's. I know the smoke is going to stick to me. For the sake of my sanity and no fight before bed I might as well shower later. Second third is opening up, ice water is the perfect choice. Woody undertones are taking hold. A faint cedar note is ever present. That dark Mexican chocolate has given way to a delicate milk chocolate flavor. I begin putzing around on my phone, trying to see how long I can let the cigar sit without it going out. The smoke is wafting up from the ashtray, it smells like hot cocoa. i decide to read up on the SP Molinos, try and compare my tasting notes to the generally accepted ones. My palate is still in the early training phase. The training wheels will be coming off no time soon. Pull up a few review sites. Well %€£$!!! me sideways. The SP Molino is a 42 RG. I decide to do a review and can't even get the damn RG correct. Man I'm a disaster today. Oh well, the cigar is pretty damn good, I think I'll just sit here and contemplate my ineptness while I enjoy the rest of this beautiful stick. cheers! one final note I had to edit this post for, in the final third I got a strong vanilla flavor, more akin to taking a big whiff of vanilla extract than the light vanilla flavor from say, ice cream.

JohnS
Hey @GasGuy82, what's 1/64 of an inch on diameter between friends? Great review, but I'm still hesitant to smoke what Molinos I have left. I'm glad you took the time to share this great cigar!
