rhcolbert Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Box coming in the post! Can't wait to see if I concur
Flyguy Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Nice video fellas. Missed this box recently, looking forward to seeing them again.
valvitalivitch Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 As always, brilliant video. Can't wait to pick up a box! Hopefully they pop up... hint... Rob please! 1
JohnS Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 It's nice to know some stock that was in production hiatus in 2016 in coming through soon, such as the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme and dare I say, Rob, I hope the Saint Luis Rey Serie A pops up again soon! Also Rob, you know a number of us would be dying to know where you got the hat from! It's great to know that you (Ken and Rob) will be doing the Romeo y Julieta Capuletos 2016 LE and the Cohiba Medio Siglo in upcoming reviews. I think H.S.A missed a tricked there in pricing the Medio Siglos so high, as Cohiba is more expensive already, no doubt you'll discuss this in that review. Nice to see Ken reviewing a smaller cigar! 2
Ken Gargett Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 that review was so long ago, i can't even remember it. better watch it to remind myself. i don't think we have done one this year? perhaps one.
Ken Gargett Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 okay, possibly this might have been early this year but given i have a skins cap on, more likely back in december, before the various subsequent meltdowns. we have none in the can since then. may i also jump in and say that, the monumental hypocrisy aside, please direct all complaints about the venture into american politics to trump, sorry rob. and i did try that bolivar gold. it was okay but nothing i'd get too excited about. but if anyone wants one, come around. there is one down in the garden somewhere. 1
planetary Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Well, @Ken Gargett, I hope you are fully recovered soon and pressed into extreme review duty as soon as health permits. 1

What is the hiss noise..... insects in the background, mic noise or maybe internal noise from camera? fuhrer ayala made me turn the springsteen down (i was wondering the same thing myself). this was, of course, before he had seen him live and so now it is all bruce, bruce and more bruce.

planetary Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 What follows is speculation. I believe the old camera setup(s) included a separate battery powered microphone. (Hence some of the hilarity requiring the pressing of two recording buttons). Once Smithy left regular reviewer duty, managing two battery sources and recording buttons became an acute challenge for the remaining regulars, so Rob upgraded. In so doing, he improved the video quality, and tried to get a reasonable mic that was built-in to the camera. The video upgrade worked. The audio... was not an upgrade. I think the new one might be an omni-directional mic (instead of an directional mic as before) which is why we get a lot of "Queensland atmosphere" in the mix. 1
