BuzzArd Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 A friend has asked me to help him with a box for his father for Christmas. I offered to pass on a box from my collection, and he reports his father loves RyJ. I Won't let go my Churches! They're stunning and I want to wait while they mature and try them myself. But I do have two boxes of Cazadores (MOE JUL 15 and ORG AGO 15) and one of Exhibition #4 (GEO MAY 14) Not knowing any additional information about his father's preferences what would you offer him of the two? Not sure there's enough time to order and receive an alternative vitola before the Big Day.
SinfullyPatient Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 From what I've heard most people that aren't really into cigars and "love" RyJ have tried only them or maybe a few other sticks. My guess is that he probably isnt a seasoned smoker and as the Cazadores is one of the stronger cigars out there I probably wouldn't recommend it. Also, the packaging of the exhibition 4 will probably appeal to him more than a smaller box with cigars wrapped in foil. The exhibition 4 is packaged more to what he's probably used to. Just my two cents, I would go for the Exhibition 4. 1
Smallclub Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 The Cazadore isn't the "typical" RyJ, and as other posters said it's probably a bit too strong and rustic for an occasional smoker. 1
Jeremy Festa Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 In all honesty, I reckon your friend's dad is probably on the naughty list. As such, I say take him down a peg or two and give him the Cazadores. 3

I was honestly wondering about letting him have a three-year-old box of #4 versus one of two boxes of the Caz's. I will probably give him the number four is but I will do a little bit more digging as his father's history and experience with smoking cigars. 1
aes8 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Cazzies of late, 09 anyway, are not even a shadow of what they used to be. I think this is an example of previous regular production tobacco going into double banded product.
cigaraholic Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 If he loves R&J and he's old.....like me......cazadores.....great size and the cherries are hiding there...
backbone Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Those '14 #4's are amazing. I would have a hard time parting with those. How about putting a sampler together and have the wife make a nice presentation basket? 1
Morgan Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I would give him the Cazadores for the simple reason you have two of those boxes and only 1 box of Exhibition #4. Additionally I know that GEO May 14 that's a great box!!! 1
