s1911 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Another cool box of interest: Dunhill Cedros De Luxe #3 (5/61) The wrappers were still very dark on these, I don't believe I ever smoked one (sold quite some time ago). 2
BMWBen Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Very cool, how do you find these old boxes? Auction?

They were part of the sale of an estate purchased and sold years ago, and probably would have been thrown out but were in the wine room (and we purchased the wine). The woman was far more concerned with selling her deceased 90+ year old husband's antiques and very expensive vintage cars. I've been organizing my photos in a new RAID setup and figured I would post a bunch of eye candy here as I mostly read and don't post.
Fugu Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Box, i.e. production, is a bit older actually. The 5/61 stamp must stem from the importer/retailer, i.e. Dunhill, most prob. on receipt in their premises. Cuba changed the origin brand on boxes to Spanish pretty soon after the revolution. That brand there is stated to be used until Sept 1960, acc. to Trevor's site. Incredible how they were able to keep them mould-free in a wine cellar. 1

Yeah really none had mold growth, one or two boxes had a little plume, a few in incomplete boxes had what appeared to beetle damage. For the most part they were in remarkable condition. I'll post more pics..mainly the wrappers on some looked very greenish/grey and not so appealing. They smoked well and were interesting but not for me and not worth keeping VS selling. But I'm not a collector of super old cigars.
