PigFish Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I am not really the biggest Hoyo fan yet I do really like the Le Hoyo line. I must admit however that the Le Hoyo line has always hit me as an inconsistent line of cigars. If you don't want to sink a lot of dough into trying some Hoyo cigars you might try the du Depute. I happen to love the du Roi... Another cigar to try might be the petit robusto. You can buy this in some 15x cardboard packs, and if you like stout little cigars, I will really be surprised if you don't like these. Best of luck on your search! -Piggy

My understanding, however, is that recent production isn't smoking great these days. I've got some from 2012 that are just a treat. I'd love to replenish my dwindling cache of them, buy have been hesitant in doing so. Any brother know how they're currently smoking?

I find that I can't appreciate 'earthy' marcas such as Bolivar, and I've tried, believe me! (And will continue to do so in the future) I guess I have a 'sweet' palate so I favour Cohiba, Montecristo the most, but I try to have a wide range in sampling marcas, and I quite like a variety of specific vitolas in many marcas (San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe, Trinidad Reyes, Por Larranaga Petit Corona, Diplomáticos No.2, Partagas Shorts, Ramon Allones Superiores et al). Two things I'll add....firstly, I share a fondness that many of us on the forum have for aged (and sometimes fresh) H.Upmann...there's something unique about that combined shortbread/toasted tobacco flavouring that I can't get enough of. Secondly, Hoyo de Monterrey is a marca I enjoy now and again, especially if 'creamy' but I find that they can be a little light in strength for my liking to make it a 'go to' marca for me. 2
ErikB Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 The best Hoyo and also best cigar I've ever smoked was a Hoyo des Dieux that was given to me in Pinar del Rio during the Festival in 2012. It was just perfect.Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
