gweilgi Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 So I will find myself in Paris (France, not Texas) for a few days this November to tick another item off my bucket list ... watching a Rugby match at the Stade de France. Given the recent performances by the Wallabies, I do not hold out much hope, but at least the atmosphere (and wine) should be good! As part of the planning for my trip, I was looking for some good places to both buy and smoke a good cigar ... any recommendations for cigar bars, clubs, merchants? What about regional editions for France -- anything worth trying to smuggle past Australia Customs?
treberty Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 To buy A la Civette on St-Honoré would be a good spot to find REs... I find it's the top shop in Paris - and their staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. Maybe some locals on the forum would have other suggestions. The Palais Royal is right across the street, so you can go smoke by the fountain in the courtyard, or go to Les Tuileries that's also nearby. I have never been to a lounge/bar/club. I only smoke in parks when I'm in Paris - it's part of the experience... That said November can be a wet/windy month so maybe finding a couple of bars would be wise. Enjoy. 2
dangolf18 Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I used to love A La Civette but visited last month and they hardly had anything in stock. If you're looking for aged stock and regional editions, go to Le Lotus. They had some discontinued El Rey Del Mundo and all of the recent regional editions. You can check A La Civette out but you'll be very disappointed. 2
gweilgi Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Thanks for the tips ... and for the warning! Unless the weather is rather better than London in November, I cannot really see myself smoking in the parks in Paris...
jschrader510 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I was just in Paris with my girlfriend last week. I agree with dangolf18 on A La Civette. They didn't have a lot of stock, although I did pick up a few of the PL 2015 regional release. Another option not mentioned is the courtyard in the Park Hyatt. We stayed there and one night I smoked a stick I brought and then the next from their selection of about ~40 or so varieties of CC and NC cigars. They also had a lot of heat lamps out there so I bet it would work in the colder months, that being said, the drinks and cigars there are a bit overpriced. 1
GavLew79 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Le Lotus was really good. Friendly staff. France REs a-plenty. 1

Prices don't scare me ... I have just moved from the UK to Australia, so my definition of "overpriced" is somewhat skewed...
