Popular Post Hurltim Posted September 23, 2016 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2016 Nothing like breaking my HdM cherry AFTER all of these beautiful boxes show up on 24:24. Grr...This came from our gracious host with a few other singles and my first box from "Da Czaaaah" as we say in Chicagoese.Aroma at cold and first impressions: I had a hard time picking up cold aromas on this one--just a faint hint of lighty toasted tobacco and a touch of barnyard. The wrapper is nowhere as dark as I have seen and I think it's a touch dry with two days of dry boxing. I will cut it back to one day. 1st 3rd--Light to medium body with some good white pepper at the back of the throat and on the finish. In no way overpowering. Nice hints of fresh bread and lighly toasted tobacco. The star of the show was the aroma...Beautiful nutty character to it with a lightly toasted tobacco-bread (yeah I know--no such thing). Then the cream kicks in after a few puffs...never experienced it. I keep wiping the inside of my cheek with my tongue to pick up more flavors...lol!The draw is spot on, easy and the smoke is viscous and coating. Wonderful! The burn is perfect. I am totally digging this cigar!Wait! WTF was that??? Was that...mother trucker it was...NOUGAT!!! Like a friggn Muskateers bar! Just one hint of it...Now I am hooked 2nd 3rd---The aroma...I keep wafting it towards my nose. Delightful! The body is slowly, almost imperceptibly building...as is the cream and now just hints of white pepper along with milk coffee and a touch of coco on the finish. A little sweetness right at the start of the 2nd third. Its a nice blalnce with the milk coffee. A sweetness like Mexican Crema--very slight and levels off at the end of the third.Last third--The body crescendos at medium almost medium full but not quite. The milk coffee takes center stage and leather joins in the fun. There is a slight salty, mineral hint nearing nub. I like it. Like a high mineral content sea salt. The sweetness is all but gone but replaced with some nice earthy notes.I had a hard time getting the band off and some of the wrapper went with the band ao I couldn't smoke it all the way down to the very nub but I would have. This was an extremely FUN cigar to smoke! Tons of different flavors and I kept smacking my lips with all of that cream coating. I think I looked like a kid trying to get peanut butter off of the inside of his cheek. This was a tremendously good cigar!Oh yeah...I am getting a box ASAP.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk 9

jcorona Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Nice review, haven't had one yet, looking forward to it. Had the petit robusto which was delish.
BuzzArd Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hooked ya...! They'll do that, the sweet little buggers....
Danimalia Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Great review. Haven't had the #2, but the Especiales are great, and I know exactly what you mean when you describe this being a fun cigar to smoke. Lots of little flashes of different flavors that I keep picking up and trying to pin down. 1
Hurltim Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 I have a huge batch of singles on the way with a ton of HU and HDM in it. I am looking forward to exploring the Marca. This one is getting some humidor real estate for sure.
backbone Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Nice review, I ordered a box the next day after my first one a couple months ago! xx:24 PSP! Like a box of chocolates...
Smoke6 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hurltim, 'NOUGAT.' I had to think about that one, then I looked up the meaning: sugar or honey, roasted nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts are common), whipped egg whites, and sometimes chopped candied fruit. I'll be damned if that doesn't just characterize HdMs to me. Add a little coffee, herbaceous-ness to it and viola! A classic. Note to self......buy some Milky Ways on the way home 1

I said the same thing about graham cracker...WTF ever--no way! Then I tasted it... Next one on the list of WTF ever flavors...marshmallow. LOL!
