fabes
Seeing as I'm far too ill-stocked in the No.2 department I'm reviewing the El Ambajador for this comp. Reveiwed in a local B&M because where I live it's crazy windy most of the time. The El Ambajador has a lovely aroma from the box and the cold draw is lovely as well. Punch cut reveals an incredibly loose draw Initial thoughts are smooth and creamy with a little spice. There is a subtle sweetness and flavors of macaroon. You know that light and fluffy airy sweetness... This had gobs of that creamy, silky, whipped egg white texture. Someone mentioned a Bushido-like quality, but to me the El Ambajador seems like the younger sibling that tries harder to get the attention. I ran into a terrible tunnel that pervaded the first two thirds causing a massive wind-tunnel which is a bummer regardless of edicion regional or regular production. You can just tell the flavors are a mere shadow of what they could be. I didn't get any signs of youth with this cigar, but the flavors got pretty harsh towards the final third because I had to double-puff to keep the cigar to stay evenly lit. The poor construction ceased for the final third revealing the rolling quality that one desires. Unfortunately it was too late, the tunneling had done its damage. There was a moment in the middle where I would sum up the overall flavor as well seasoned french fries dipped in mayonnaise. Creamy, bready with a all-spice seasoning. It was tasty. In conclusion, I liked the flavors I got from this cigar, but was very disappointed with the construction. I tried to get a pic of the tunneling. When purging, the cigar made a whistling noise.
NSXCIGAR
Great review. Bummer about the construction. Is it just me or is poor construction really rearing its head lately? Really seems to be a recurring theme with these Dip reviews. This is something HSA needs to get a handle on as it seems to be very common with 46+ RG and has been for quite a while. I really think they have a problem with seco combustibility. I don't think it's a ligero issue since CCs aren't really that strong anymore. It could be simply a rolling issue, but it's really unfortunate and in cigars like high-end REs and LEs it's totally unacceptable.
