ERDM Lunch Club 2009 : DEF Review Comp 2016

I actually wanted to do a Cohiba review for the comp last week (side note - not much love for Cohiba last week what's up fellas?!), but couldn't get my act together in time.

 

So let's settle for an ERDM review instead shall we. The chosen one for incineration is the very cubanesque named "Lunch Club".  Would love to know how/why this stick was named thus?

 

I'm on my "smoking balcony" unwinding on a Friday evening, a bottle of nice red demolished, and contemplating the important things in life ....such as where in the world could the "best bar ever" possibly be?!? Ive also forgotten to turn any lights on, so it's too damed dark (apologies for the flash photos), and I'm furiously typing these notes on my ipad as I ash everywhere. Happy days! 

 

My extensive and painstaking research (ie 10 second check on CCW) indicates that this line was discontinued in 2009, so it's remotely possible for this single (sorry no idea of box code) which I am about to burn, to be the last one ever rolled in Cuba. Yep I'm now sure that's right lol. And this might be my 1st ever posted cigar review, unless I have forgotten some other. A double exclusive for FOH! 

 

Nice looking stick. Sweet hay smell at cold. Draw is about perfect. Beautiful oily wrapper, don't think the photos do it justice.

 

Lots of sweetness and floral notes from the get go. About medium. Lots of beany notes as well. Very nice. Very much like a Choix actually ( for me anyway). Very smooth..this stick and the wine have me so relaxed right now. 

 

And so much smoke, a ridiculous amount for such a small stick! Very chewy. I've got my phone light on just to watch it, the neighbours must think I'm mad!

 

Every so often, getting some zesty tangy notes. Unusual and enjoyable. Still very smooth. Even on retrohale. 

 

Near its end, some spice and earthiness to complement the sweetness ( sorry can't pick what it is). Floral notes fade. Still immensely smooth. Long aftertaste. Dense smoke. Yum! 

 

Fingers starting to burn so "switching to nail" to ride this to the end. A fantastic smoke, and would definitely be box worthy if these were still around. A tasty little bugger!

Sunday night. This box has been stellar for me, and this stick again delivered as expected. Creamy, cedar, grassy. Some choc notes. Razor sharp burn, dense smoke.  Only a handful left, wish I had a few cabs. Perfect way to round out the weekend.

Thanks for the review.  I passed on a box of the discontinued Lunch Clubs a few years ago, wishing I hadn't now.  Like the size and the review sounds excellent!
