This is my first review on FOH and I had fun writing it. Hope you all enjoy it.

I got this cigar as part of a 5 pack I picked up from my local B&M in 2014 from a 2012 box. I was still new to smoking cigars so I wasn’t really buying boxes at the time. Having just about 2 years on them I thought they might of settled down, but when I tried one not long after I bought them it really wasn’t the case. Fast forward to this summer when I tried another and it blew me away. It was an “Ah Ha!” moment for me. For this review I smoked the 4th out of the 5.

The stick I had for this review had what I would describe as a colorado maduro wrapper and it is a little on the thick side. It felt and looked well constructed . It didn’t really give me too much off the nose other than a sweet tobacco smell. The cold draw was a little tight and the flavours the same as off the nose, but with a little cedar in the mix.

First third. I got a decent amount of smoke to come through despite the tighter than desirable draw. Some dark bitter espresso flavours with a little leather and earth. Very bolivar, but it was very all over the place too. Knowing what I knew from smoking two of these in as many weeks, there was more to come.

Second third. Much of the same until the flavour I was hoping would appear did and I am hit with puff after puff of an incredible dark chocolate taste with an intensity I have only ever experienced in this selection of cigars. This mixed with the espresso like finish I forgot all about the slightly irregular burn and tight draw and just really tried to savor every moment.

Last third. Things get a little rocky here near the middle of the last third. I started having trouble keeping it lit and the subsequent touch up/relights are a little distracting. I am sure you have all experienced trying to smoke a cigar slow near the end so it doesn’t get too hot, but when you do it goes out. First world problems. I didn’t experience this with the others I smoked and I am going to chalk it up to the rain and humid weather we have had here as of late. Nevertheless, the chocolate flavour remains strong and the  espresso is now more intense than before. The flavours are still quite pleasant until things start to get too hot, which is when I reluctantly leave it to go out.

I have really taken a shine to the Bolivar marca as of late. Smoking these Royal Coronas has been a significant contributing factor. Sad thing is I actually waited a while to try Bolivars when I started smoking cigars, as lots of people say they are strong and you need to build up to them. I don't believe this is particularly good advice. I think you just need a little time on them.

Thanks for reading.

I agree, I don't find today's Bolivars heavy like the old days. I enjoy their profile and many of the cigars they produce.
Thank for the review!

Very nice review! The Royal Corona has become, IMO, quite an approachable cigar. A fresh BBF, OTOH, can be quite harsh... My last box had to go for DEEP sleep after I smoked the first one.
