Gamehawker Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I want to buy some special cigars to treat myself for my upcoming birthday. What would you pick? - San Cristobal De La Habana - Jarra Torreon (I love the Ceramic Humidor Jar/Ashtray, it is gorgeous) - H. Upmann MAGNUM 56 Edicion Limitada 2015 - Bolivar Super Corona Edicion Limitada 2014 - H. Upmann Royal Robusto - Ramón Allones Club Allones Edicion Limitada 2015 TIA
Ethernut Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 HAHA! (here come "one meellion answers") For me, some of the best cigars I've ever had have been consistently Bolivar. Without getting long winded, that's my vote. However your picks are all great choices. It really has to do with what size you prefer. I like the smaller ring gauges and full bodied cigars so that influences my decision. Happy upcoming Birthday! 1
Mr.T Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 What a nice position to be in! I have not tried the first two, but you can't go wrong with the last three you listed. The first two seem to me more the "special occasion" smoke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
billh1 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Of your choices I've only had the Mag 56 and the Club Allones. Both great cigars BTW. While I absolutely hate the size of the Mag 56, it is the best tasting cigar of the year, so far, IMHO. Don't think you'd be disappointed with anything on that list though. Cheers! Bill 1
KnightsAnole Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I'd go for a 10 count each of the HURR and RACA and then add the BSC for good measure. That jar is nice though... 1
Fugu Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 May not be of much help saying, you won't go wrong with either of them. Have had all of them, but price-wise, as you will be aware of, they all play in different leagues. But, hey, it's your birthday, so let's put that aspect aside. The Torrrreon is an excellent smoke, but pricey (ok, we wanted to ignore that...). Construction seems to be a bit variable from what I've had (some underfilled), so would be good to not buy blind or get them properly checked, if that's possible for you. Mag EL - I concur with the board, a very good cigar, excellent tobacco - but not my format. If you like that, a no-brainer (pricey, but still adequate). Boli - if you can still get hold of a box... very nice cigar. Love the format and am in the same boat as Ethernut here. Royal Robusto - perhaps the most 'generic' one of the lot. Buy a box as an extra, but not partic. for your birthday, and you're doing fine. RACA - while most members here praise the cigar, I have not been too impressed so far (but only smoked two). Good, not great, from my experience, and I'd personally rather stick with a good box of RASS (a nice half-wheel would be a birthday-worthy alternative). Cheers and a happy bday to come! 1
Habana Mike Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Go for the jar. It's your birthday! Good cigar too! 1
stogieluver Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Yeah, I agree with Mike. Go for the jar since it's your birthday. 1
Gamehawker Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Thanks for all of the feedback and information. I bought the San Cristobal De La Habana - Jarra Torreon. And after all of the cigars are gone (I will probably not even smoke the first one for 5 years) the bonus is I am left with to admire that amazingly gorgeous Ceramic Humidor Jar/Ashtray! 3
Habana Mike Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Exactly! The others for the most part are readily available plus all you'd have left is an empty box! I'd say fire one up to celebrate - they're already 4 years old. Enjoy and happy birthday! 1
garbandz Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I lean toward a psp box from Rob,a nice Monte 2 or Upmann 2,Boli Gigantes,Parti 898. or any thing he offers that you like. Or two boxes............ THAT'S a happy birthday!!!! 1

Don't wait five years to smoke them. They're already aged. Smoke 'em now! Five years from now they may have passed their prime.
