HemiCya Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I am going to Cuba in a month, I'd like to smoke many singles while I'm down there but in my experience many Cubans are pretty bad when they're young and others are downright nasty. I had decent experiences with young BRCs, Monte Petit Edmundos and Partagas Shorts the last time I was there 6 months ago, but the others weren't so great. Your experiences as of late?
MahDooRow Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Rafael Gonzalez PC Bolivar PC H. Upmann PC... I've been loving my recent box from our host. Triple shot of espresso! 1
NSXCIGAR Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 H. Upmann PC is tops on this list methinks. The Boli CG may be right there as well but I've yet to have a 15 or 16 so I can't attest. Also a big vote for SC La Fuerza. Juan Lopez S1 & S2 are very intense and punchy and are great right now to my taste and will only get better. Some of the big winners of 13 and 14 that seem to have taken a bit of a back seat in 15 and 16 are PLPC, Monte 4, many RyJ, Party Shorts.
potpest Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Upmann Connie A and Monte Double Edmundo. I usually try to age for 3 years minimum but these really don't need it, they are good to go.Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk

I don't even remember when I've had a habanos that tasted bad because of it's young age… btw, you will probably see almost the entire habanos catalogue listed in this thread… 3

I'd rather reach for a NC than most young, bitter Habanos. Perhaps I have had bad luck in my experience, as I bought and smoked most of them in Varadero where humidity may have been questionable - I'll see if I have better luck in Havana. Unlikely on listing them all (as we've already seen repeats), I'm not really asking what is tolerable - but what is decent. Cigars are expensive, no sense smoking them before they're ready.
ShortFatHokie Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Diplo Numero Dos and VR Famosos from Pres. Both late 15 roll, right off the truck...say no more, say no more, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean...

It's been a long time since I've smoked a fresh Cuban cigar that was bitter and/or tannic. That seems to be a characteristic of yesteryear. I don't think you're going to find that very often. More likely a ROTT these days is going to be one-dimensional or have muted flavors. Let me also throw in the Dip 2 for great smoking young cigars. 2
