lafabrica Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 in my experiences, 2 labels that i know to offer the classic full cuban profile would be partagas and bolivar. i prefer <52 ring typically (favorite is a 46 ring) so the party short, psd #4, bolivar petit, and bolivar rc stay in those lines. i have some coro that i have not put to fire just yet. i would classify the above as medium overall (having a history of NC and CC). add age into the equation and some cigars mellow/lose strength as well. i'll be visiting a LCDH soon, any recent release suggestions?
JohnS Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Full strength/full body? Don't forget to give some Ramon Allones a try.
NSXCIGAR Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 This is actually a question that I'm not sure has been answered lately, namely, what are the strongest cigars in production right now? I'm not sure I know the answer myself. From what I'm reading and hearing, perhaps Mag 46? Some say Mag 56 but I smoked one and found it medium. Might I throw out Boli Tubos Nos. 1 & 2? I think they're a touch stronger than the rest of the Boli lineup. The Boli CG is getting rave reviews right now, but is it really that strong? I can't really think of a Partagas that's strong these days--perhaps one of the cheap & cheerfuls (Aristocrats, Super Partagas, Mille Fleur, PCE, Habaneros)? RyJ Cazadores aren't what they used to be, but are they still that strong? Interested to see what others have to say...
Fugu Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I guess, we are not talking of nicotine strength here, neither of the NC 'spiciness', as opposed to the "full Cuban profile" that the OP states? If you are mentioning the Boli PC, @lafabrica, you must not forget the CJ! For me, always more full in flavour and more complex than the Mareva. Different blend and different smoking experience for me. Love the PC but the CJ is a staple of mine (I repeat myself I guess... haha). A little, concentrated CC "shot". Love it. Agree with NSX, the Boli tubos, in particular the 2 and 3 are also on the stronger side. The RyJ Cazadores still is a great medium to medium-full cigar, with more refinement than in the past. Love it as well, but I would not count me as a particularly 'strong'-smoker. It even gains in strength with 3 to 5 years age (not talking about nicotine, mind you). Much more approachable and can be very enjoyable fresh recently (but beware of moisture). And I have to second what John sais about RA. Had almost forgotten about the RASS over the years, but a recent 4 year old stick from a cab was heavenly. Left nothing to desire. Still the poster child of a full-bodied Cuban, for me, is the Espléndidos, incl. nicotine. Cheers and welcome to the forum! Goo 1
Ethernut Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Of the CC's I've enjoyed over the years, for me, the cigar with the most memorable moments have been bolivar's time and time again (and those 2 cabs of Hoyo Des Deuix from 03 **GOOD GAWD YALL**). Interesting thread, looking forward to reading the responses.
NSXCIGAR Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I actually think I have answer to my own question: Juan Lopez S1 and S2. Recent production has been ligero-heavy and they might just be the strongest cigars currently in production. Reminds me that the No 1 might be in my upcoming purchase list... 2
ethosan Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 The Partagas CS im smoking at the moment is quite a bit above medium. Young, spicy, and rich.
SloppyJ Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Following this thread because these seem to be my favorite cigars. I'm deep into some.boli PCs right now. Had a Trinidad tonight that was actually pretty tasty and full too. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
MahDooRow Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Lately I have really been enjoying the strength and full flavor of the H. Upmann PC with very little age. The Bolivar PC is another favorite.

subport Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 RyJ caz yes it is strong in nicotine and yes it is med/full to full in body. Full of flavors but not complex. It doesn't meant to be I suppose. Great cigar
Akela3rd Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I'm with Fugu in the Bolivar Corona Junior camp. It's a little blast of full on flavour which might not translate so well to a larger format. I find that I have to really fancy a BCJ to light one up knowing that it's got that kick. RyJ Cazzies need a good run up too - either plenty of drinks on hand or the time to put it down and return to it later. I've made one last half a day when fishing, just coming back to it as and when. I did this with a JLP Cazadores this morning whilst working in the garden, not in the same league but still seemed quite a hefty smoke. I think the vitola lends itself to this approach!Sent from my HTC One M8s using Tapatalk
