wade1979 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 The game is just not as fun without him in the field. Hope he one day gets back on the course, but looking more and more doubtful. Aside from his personal issues its always sad to see a sporting hero decline so quickly. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/19/tiger-woods-us-pga-withdrawal-golf
Corylax18 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I don't think you can put the personal issues aside. He was never the same golfer after he got caught. He lost his "mojo" The physical issues were inevitable with how hard he swung, the damaged disks in his back and worn cartilage in his knees are the negative affects of a very hard swing. Golfing is the cause of the physical ailments hes had, more golf is only going to make them worse. He hasn't won any tournament in more than three years and its been more than 6 since he won a major. He had a great career, but for the last 5 years his "status" has been nothing more than click bait for sporting websites and fuel for his ego. Why don't we spend time talking about the dozen or so top tier golfers now who are actually golfing and aren't terrible people.
LGC Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 When you live your life in the spotlight, it's hard to come back from big life issues... in combination with health issues. I was never optimistic about his return. He has to live his life for himself and his kids... not for his fans.
JohnS Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 The descent from May 2006 when his father passed away until November 2009, when his infidelities scandal came to light, was marginal and gradual. After that, he was obviously not the same. 1
wade1979 Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 Y.E. Yang 2009 PGA Championship. He had the arguably the toughest mental game on the course. The will do sink 7 footers for par, getting up and down from a porter potty, and intimidation factor all left him that final round on Sunday. What we didnt know was...everything that had happened and was happening. Miller1985 Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 He was a force to be reckoned with in his younger days. It's sad to think that all he wants is normal, and all he can do is please everyone else. It's a demon we all struggle with at some point, but to do so on a worldwide stage... I can't imagine the pressure and stress.
