jbn Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hi Guys, Just received a box of Siglo 1 from one of my regular suppliers and i have noticed that they have the older cohiba (no hologram) bands, i did a little research and found out roughly late 2015 they changed over but want to get some confirmation of people who have late 2015 boxes as well The Factory code is BOR and its a OCT-15 box Edit - The boxes rob has posted today are SGA - DIC-15 which have the updated bands
jbn Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 here are some pics Everything looks legit and they are from a reputable supplier so i think this factory might have started later after clearing out the old bands
WhiteMamba Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 It would be interesting to see a box with a mix of each.
Popular Post Andy04 Posted June 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted June 9, 2016 I can understand from a counterfeit standpoint why the bands were changed, but damn the old bands look so much better than the new bling bling looking crap. 5
LordAnubis Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I actually like the newer bands. Yes there is a bit of bling to them but i like how the cohiba lettering is not as prominent anymore. 1
Fugu Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Count me in the old band camp. Much prefer the classic, more understated style (if you can say so...). New band always appears somehow out of balance, in particular on a Robo or a Lanceros, CE or Exqui. It is just toooo wide. Anyway, in the end it's the tobacco that counts. 1
Guest MrRobusto Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I love the new bands mainly for the enhanced counterfeit measures but I also really just do like the style of them.
PigFish Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 ... well, I am happy to say that I am still smoking cigars that look like this! On the other hand, remember the 90' when some of the brand bands were really getting so shabby you could barely make them out? I mean the RyJ and Partagas bands look like they came off of cheap Chinese toy cigars or something. Okay, I prefer a bandless cigar in cabs, but if you are going to put bands on a cigar, lets not put one on that looks like something that was spit out of a wood chipper! I mean if you're going to pay the premium for a Cohiba, and they are going to put bands on it so that you are paying for their look, they should at least put on a quality printed and embossed band. No, I have not left the camp of 'screw the bands and boxes.' Yes, I am still just about the cigars. But if you are paying a premium, and you are paying for how they look, then you are paying for a band, and you should get one that does not look like it was printed in China! About the box above and my last comment. There should be a maximum band width to cigar length algorithm. I mean dose anyone want half their cigar covered by bands? The previous Cohiba bands looked nice to me. And these new ones might look good on a cigar the size of a Siglo 6. But when a band starts to cover 20% of the cigar you have to ask yourself what you are buying? Is it the cigar or is it the band? My 2cts. -Piggy 1

El Presidente Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nothing is wasted when it comes to packaging. If old bands are at hand, then they will be used. Any I prefer the old bands as well....but understand the need for HSA to fight against counterfeiting. I just wonder if they could have made it a little less "drastic". While the new bands on Robusto and larger is fine, they look out of whack on smaller gauges.
