Joshtupps Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Who's looking forward to the tests coming up next month? From an English perspective I'm excited to see how we hold up under Eddie Jones after our Grand Slam this year, I certainly don't think it'll be an easy time for the Aussies. The fact that Beale is out due injury is a shocker for the Wallabies, but it would be good to get the oppositions perspective.... Look forward to the replies. Tupps
Ken Gargett Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 as someone for whom any rugby test or reds game has always been the most important dates of the year (for more than 40 years i have stood on the sidelines or had seats for i suspect literally thousands of rugby games and watched both the wallabies and reds here, all over australia, nz, england, france), i have so utterly lost interest in rugby for any number of reasons that i can honestly tell you i don't even know when they are. this year, the first time since the mid 70s, if i have been in qld and not irrevocably committed, i have missed a reds game. through choice. through long term reds tickets we have always got wallaby seats - the administrators revoked that this year (renege on past agreements, like they have with so much else, because these are our core supporters and they will keep paying through the nose for whatever crap we serve them them and keep coming back - no longer) and i could not even be bothered arguing. just did not care. now, i much prefer to watch the league or NFL. if the broncos clash with the wallabies, i might tape the wallabies but they would not be first priority. that said, i'm sure i'll watch them. and beating england at anything is, of course, as important as breathing. but i'd rather win this series to see that monumental tosser jones get what he deserves. but early in the "jones" cycle so things should go well for england. it will eventually end in tears - always does with jones. he is certifiable. box of frogs in party hats mad. a nasty little, evil-tempered bully who uses his position to try and prove his relevance. everywhere he goes, same thing. lots of promise, kind words all round. usually starts well - look at us in 2003 and england for the 6 nations. then it all starts to unravel. assistant coaches bail as fast as possible. players want to be anywhere else. everyone else is blamed. he ends up having to go elsewhere to prove himself all over again. as for beale, would this be the same beale who cost us the series against the lions? the same beale whom that dimwit ella named a national treasure when he had caused such division and so many problems for the previous wallabies? the same beale who has promised so much so often and so rarely delivered? the same beale who mid-season announced he was abandoning his country for the money? normally hate seeing a player go down with an injury but for beale, could not care less. the most overrated wallaby since lloyd walker waddled out of a pub.
JohnS Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm with Ken on this one, and for similar reasons. I'm dissuaded by poor administration to properly promote the game in this country, which sadly barely generates the interest it should amongst the public, like AFL, Rugby League and now even the national soccer competition. I think it's absolutely pathetic that the Australian Rugby Union can't even negotiate a TV deal to show some local Super 18 games on free-to-air television, unlike the AFL and NRL. Finally, Eddie Jones is talking things up again...I'm sorry but you may find that England aren't quite where Eddie says they are during these tests.
El Presidente Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I love rugby tests. As dissilusioned as I am with Oz rugby administration, I like what Cheika has done. Beale is no loss. I firmly believe we are a better team (on and off the field) without him. Outside of Wallabies Blacks tests, England tests are my favourite. Probably because we have a realistic chance of winning
David88 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I'm quite excited for these tests. England can't be any worse than they were in the World Cup and they have a half decent record against Australia (in comparison to the stuffings we continually get from New Zealand and South Africa). So in my heart there is a glimmer of hope for England and Eddie Jones, my head however tells me differently! I also don't think that Beale will be a big loss for the Wallabies. I found it ironic that his injury happened days after announcing his big money move to Wasps.
Ken Gargett Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Don't fret Ken, State of Origin is less than two weeks away! it is currently the best, toughest football of any code, anywhere on the planet. awesome stuff. think we'll have a very hard time this year. especially as we decided to handicap ourselves with the idiotic new coach. spare me. mitchell dimwit can carry on the way he does with dog bonking and urinating in homes and so on and we rule out milford because he drives his mates to a pub so they don't drink drive. insane. munster, holmes, napa. plus milford. and of course another 4 of them. crazy. but really looking forward to it. and tonight - ducking the noosa food/wine festival opening so i can watch the cowboys broncos. should be awesome.
