Ken Gargett Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 a little late this year but never in doubt. congrats to leicester - the only problem with their amazing season was that it completely took the wind out of the battle for 2-6 and that has probably been the most exciting for many years. if anyone had bothered to notice. 1
Sunsmoke Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Loved it! What a great way to do it this year, right at the end! Should have done better overall, but always nice to get one over the spuds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
pbibby Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Agreed Ken! Happy Totteringham to you as well! Are you a gooner??
Ken Gargett Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Agreed Ken! Happy Totteringham to you as well! Are you a gooner?? since the mid/late 80s. always one of the best days of the year - though i would have preferred it a couple of months earlier. next season. i know it is not quite the same amazing achievement as leicester but if one looked at all the so-called pundits' predictions pre-season, almost to a man they ruled out the glorious gunners from the top 4. on that basis, 2nd is a terrific achievement though there will always be the feeling that we let one slip. mind you, i suspect that there are 3-4 sides all thinking the same thing. 1

Agreed. I think both Manchester teams and Arsenal all feel as if this could have been their year. I definitely think that way. I think it was poor second half by the Gunners. That said, I'm not so quick to shout "Wenger Out". One simply needs to look at ManU to know that once an established manager leaves, anything (bad) can happen.

I'm not sure about the Europa Final. I know they get in to the Champions League by winning, but I'm unsure if it's at the expense of #4.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I think, hesitantly, that man c would still get it and Liverpool would get a 5th spot. Could be wrong though
Ferrero Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 3 points off top of the league with a game in hand at the end of February and still did your best to shank it. Arsene needs to break the bank for a striker this summer or calls from the fans for his head to be on the chopping block will only get stronger. Considering how big that Puma deal was a couple of years ago you should have bought in Higuain or someone similar when you had the chance. Need another Thierry in the squad. The balance of the squad is a shambles though. Same can be said about Chelsea, United and City this year. Liverpool are just same old... Ben has asked me to remind you of the conversation you two had in the casino about a 20+ goal a season striker... Yesterday was a good day for you though... Offloading Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini (TBC)
CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I don't think he'll ever spend big on a striker, even when Henry was there, there was rumours of Trezeguet joining to help out with goals, it never happened. I think his philosophy is to get the midfield make/create the goals so you just have someone average to pop it in the net at the end They would have won the league so many times over the last decade with an Aguero, Suarez, Muller, Drogba though..

Offloading Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini (TBC) i'm sorry - is that a spurs fan sticking his nose above the parapets? don't forget, a few weeks ago, 6th place was looking likely. surely not higuain. lord spare us. almost rather stick with dopey theo. arteta is likely to be involved with coaching. but he and rosicky had terrific careers but past their best. flamini - they better not offend him or he might buy the club. isn't he worth around 30 bill? as for ben - i have never been in a casino so we could not have had said conversation. and even if i had, i have no idea what i said. no doubt i'll be reminded. BUT.... one can tell that you are no gunners fan. for no true gunners fan would ever even imagine that there could be another thierry. if only. never been a player i'd rather watch. he was the wally lewis of the EPL.

soutso Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 If Liverpool win the Europa they will join Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs and automatically qualify for the Group Stages of the Champions League. Pep's City will still need to play a play off for the group stages - this is the usual scenario for the fourth placed qualifier. The only affect Liverpool's potential qualification will have is that the pool of money that EUFA allocate English clubs will be split 5 ways instead of 4. This equates to a little over 3 million pounds less per club than what they'd get between 4. I am now convinced that the Spuds will never finish above Arsenal in my lifetime ...... lol @ Spuds

wabashcr Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 The more unlikely St Totts are always the most gratifying. Well, Newcastle have definitely scored this time. Five of them, actually. 1
Smiley Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Sorry for waking up this old thread. I almost missed it... Me and the missus were invited by Arsenal head office to Emirates Stadium to watch the Aston Villa game on St Totteringhams day. Had a fabulous day! Filmed a short video to sum it up. Cheers 3
