ayepatz Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Heading out to Cuba at the end of next week, and wondering how much I need to budget per 25-bundle of customs? Looking at buying Lonsdales and Piramides. Also, is it still the case that you don't get receipts for customs? Thanks, Iain
Diamondog Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Lonsdales probably 4 to 5 cuc .. pyramides anywhere from 4 to 5 cuc depending on roller...spectrum is about 2 cuc up to giant cigars at the 10-12 cuc range...robustos usually 3-4 cuc...all shops i have been to want cash only for customs only exception to that was Jorge at Club Habana....do not expect receipts for custom rolled..I would recommend Partagas to see La China I just saw her last week...she was selling pyramides...I would also recommend the shop at the Comodoro and see Alex...tell him tall Steve says hello if you go...his stuff is incredible and $4.55 cuc for a brilliant pyramides...he speaks great english if you dont speak spanish and is a great host, 30 years old....I had an extremely poor visit at Reynaldos, I couldnt get the time of day there for some reason this trip 2 days in a row...I brought him a pretty exclusive bottle of booze too and I always drop a lot of coin with him...who knows maybe just an off visit... 2
Nino Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Club Habana does issue receipts for the Monsdales, the others won't. But Cuban customs won't accept the receipts if you exceed the quota ... 2

MrGinger Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Nino. But isn the rule that you are allowed to get out of Cuba as many as you want with factura?. And 50 without factura?. Having said that if you buy Custom rolls with factura you should be able to get as many as you want?..... Facturas are not issued for custom rolled cigars. 1
Nino Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Yes. As many as you want in boxes with a factura or official receipt that has your name, passport #, etc on it. No problem. Officially you may take 50 un-banded out as well. But : Problem is : You take more out, say 3-4 CR bundles un-banded and might get inspected by a dickhead that doesn't accept your facturas and says : Only 25 un-banded allowed, the rest is to be smoked in Cuba ... Believe me, it happens. Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood morning Cuba 1
Nino Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Facturas are not issued for custom rolled cigars. Not true. Club Habana and some other CR rollers issue facturas - albeit NOT the box facturas with passport # etc - but facturas for CR cigars including amount and cigars. Only place that didn't issue them was at Cueto, but that was a .... well, Cuban thing :-) 1

They will give you a receipt, but this is NOT a proper factura.
oliverdst Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Listen to what Nino says. He knows what he is talking about. But if you are like me, who goes to Cuba once in a while (twice to be more specific), I would take the chances and would try to bring as many cigars as you can. Last time I brought, I guess, 100-120 unbanded cigars. I was lucky and nobody stopped me. 1
madandana Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Good info, thanks Nino. Where would one find Peso cigars? Can you get a receipt for them?

Nino Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Good info, thanks Nino. Where would one find Peso cigars? Can you get a receipt for them? You find peso cigars at the Bodega, the gvt. shop/store where Cubans buy with their ration cards ( normally a neighbourhood store ). or you may find someone selling them. Most popular are Reloba, El Credito and they are 25 for one CUC or one $ - and : no, no receipt for these ....:-) 1
Bulldog4 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 if you throw them in your checked luggage you should be fine no?
Troels Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Didnt find any lonsdale CR or the like in january. Didnt look that many places though: hotel national, partagas, reynaldo and Varadero. La China in partagas didnt have any at all. Robusto being the slimmest vitola at reynaldos
madandana Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 if you throw them in your checked luggage you should be fine no? Ya, but just in case.....
