earthson Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 On a lark, in the interest of attempting to try each regular production cigar from Cuba, I came across the La Flor de Cano Petit Coronas as a very affordable handmade and added a box to a recent order I was making. There is woefully little info about them. What can I expect? Does it rule or drool?
ChefBoyRG54 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I too recently made the exact same decision. I feel as if I will never smoke one, but was happy to buy for $70 box to say I have them. Short filler cigar so not expecting a masterpiece myself, but the price was intriguing enough!
earthson Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Of course - the guy from the city I graduated high school in (who also recently mentioned Buffalo, my original hometown) - why wouldn't we be thinking the same things? I'm actually looking forward to trying them. Unless they're one of those cheapies that tastes "cuban" without much beyond that, I'll be happy. I'm still blown away at how good PL Panetelas can be. 1
habanolover Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Actually fellas, they are a good bang for the buck cheapie. Distinctive flavor and somewhat deceptive strength. Of course as a short filler, you may find the bit spitting a tad annoying but it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Enjoy!

earthson Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 Well, have had 2 out of the box before burying them in the cooler. For being a '15 box, they're already remarkably accessible, flavor-wise. A little spicy, a sweet finish, and the middle featured an alluring note that was either exotic wood, tropical fruit or some spice that lies outside of my well-stocked spice rack. Long story short, I will let them settle before diving back in, but am already thinking about adding a '12 box to my next order. 1
JohnS Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Thanks for sharing that feedback on these, that's good to know. I can relate to the 'spitting' of the short filler tobacco at the head, I experienced this from my last box of PL Panatelas, but overall, these were quite fine for cheap and cheerfuls too.
earthson Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 I do enjoy PL Panetelas, but usually don't buy them since two of my favorites - the PC and the MC - are so affordable already. Same story with the RG Panetelas - I've slowly become addicted to the PC, so there's really no reason to buy the tripa corta of the brand. What I want to know is which tobacco goes into the La Flor de Cano. I assume it's cutoffs from the production of other long fillers, although perhaps it is tobacco especially grown and cut to make these cedar-wrapped lovelies. I loved that mysterious note in the middle and cannot recall coming across it before. I can't believe it, but I forgot to mention my favorite part of the LFDC PC: the first third was almost all barnyard, like a fresh-rolled farmie! I'll probably try another soon to confirm. I LOVE barnyard in cigars and have always wanted a regular production smoke that mimics the horseshit and barnyard I find in my favorite custom rolleds. 2

So glad you enjoy, care to share that box code?

earthson Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 NOT sorry to say I TOLDYA SOOO! So glad you enjoy, care to share that box code? Box I got is ARG ABR 15 (could be ARB ABR 15 - it's a light stamp). I'm kicking the tires on a box of LTB MAY 12. I would expect 3 years difference to present a different blend (due to vintage), but maybe I'm over-analyzing a freaking short filler cigar! What? Light waftings of horse plop and hay take me to fond memories working the fields! 2

Would you like me to send you a 5r from that 2012 dc so you can decide before pulling the $70 trigger?
habanolover Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 The older ones are good, but I would say probably a little lighter blend than what you describe. May just be due to the age, but definitely worth the price of admission as a cheapie...2.80/stick
