jwr0201 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Anyone else have this occur with their wineador set-up? To begin with, I set and keep my wineador at the highest setting of 66 degrees F. Summers here are hot and humid, so indicated temp stays at 66 and rarely varies, unless we get a power outage from storms. In the winter, however, temps vary with the room temperature - between 52 and 60. Now, I'm pretty sure that these chillers with Peltier units cool to a certain amount below the ambient room temperature. Last winter, I was moving and did not pay attention to the temp too much, just made sure that the unit was always set on 66. This winter, I paid closer attention and noted this. Interestingly, I've found that the draw on my cigars has been the best I can remember. Humidity has been rock solid at 62-63%.
RickG Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 If my 2 are packed with cigars, it will average 62/62. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Turbo56 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Quick and cheap remedy is buy a temperature controller and set it to whatever temperature you want. Once it gets above that temperature the controller will power on your wineador and lower to set temp. 1
jwr0201 Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Mine is not a matter of lowering the temperature. It goes up to the max I set it for in the summber. In winter, when the house is much cooler, the temp is lower. Not really an issue, just curious. Cigars have been perfectly fine.
joejack11 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 65 set point with a 3 degree differential . Thanks to a johnsons control a419. In my next set up I'll be using a dixell controller .
TomF Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I leave mine set at 65%. It sometimes varies slightly between 64 and 66, but is generally very stable. It's in my basement and I keep the thermostat at a steady 65% during the winter. The cooler doesn't go on much. In the summer it works harder but it rarely goes above 75 down there and the temp holds very well.

My basement temps appear to be very similar to yours, but my NewAir 281E drops the temp to 59 during the winter when the ambient temp is 65. I continue to be perplexed by the constant "ROCK SOLID" temp /Rh proclamations.
Corylax18 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Unless you have some kind of data logger, people claiming "Rock Solid" readings cant backup those claims. There are daily and cyclical fluctuations as the cooler cycles on and off. I thought my Newaire 28 bottle was "Rock Solid" at about 64 degrees and 67% humidity. I added two wireless data loggers and was amazed at the clearly defined daily fluctuations that occurred. Mind you they were not huge, but definitely noticeable and predictable. Even in a closet protected from direct sunlight the temps would slowly rise during the day as ambient temps rose. As built, the coolers are designed to hold a certain number of degrees below ambient. They don't actually maintain/read a set temp inside the cooler itself. The only way to completely eliminate the fluctuations is to hook the cooler up to an separate temperature controller and by pass the units original controller all together. Maintaining a steady ambient temp is also helpful, but often not possible. Pigfish is the resident expert on all things Humidity/temp related and has dozens of post going into much more detail on how/what to do to help squash these fluctuations. try searching some of his threads and posts. You will find more info than you even knew you were looking for.
TomF Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Mine is a Whynter, this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/whynter-2-5-cu-ft-cigar-cooler-humidor-stainless-steel/8827954.p?id=1219371332995&skuId=8827954 I just keep the thermostat set to 65 in the basement man-cave. I don't have A/C down there, but the basement stays relatively cool in the summer.
