Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 it might be women’s rugby and it might be seven’s, so not really sport at all, but you have to applaud this effort. https://youtu.be/9MS97LJWzZo 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 doesn't she ever. what a good tackle. 1
Fuzz AI Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 That's what you call getting freight trained.
Hunter1974 Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Get off the track here comes the train!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUI5NdGVVlw Check this out fellas LOL
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Jeezus. Your Aussie women could teach our Scottish men a thing or two.
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Jeezus. Your Aussie women could teach our Scottish men a thing or two. and in return, your scottish men can teach our aussie women how to wear dresses. 3
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 and in return, your scottish men can teach our aussie women how to wear dresses. Et tu, Brute? http://youtu.be/UCVCXiVecl4 O'Driscoll v Roussouw. Never get bored of this one.
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 And my namesake, depriving the vile English. Lol 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Et tu, Brute? i do have endless scots in the family tree so i figure i am allowed to shake it occasionally. 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Et tu, Brute? http://youtu.be/UCVCXiVecl4 O'Driscoll v Roussouw. Never get bored of this one. two points on this. 1. if we are on big hits, leaving aside state of origin which is a different category altogether, this is my fave. and in the pro bowl of all places. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/0ap2000000308486/Sean-Taylor-hits-Brian-Moorman 2. was that brian driscoll with an illegal tackle? oh dear. the bloke (and i did like him as a player but...) never stopped bitching about any tackle on him he didn't like. so we have double standards? i gather he still doesn't speak to tana umaga for the tackle on him.
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 and i appear to have hijacked my own thread. 1
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 And Glenn Metcalfe against Fiji in 2003. Skirt and all. This should be a thread. Is there a better try saving tackle than Nicole Beck's?

I had to sit through an advert for that. Totally worth it. Amazing. 2. Yes, it was. But it's South Africa, so who cares?
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 hard to go past george gregan on jeff wilson. what was so important about this was that it was in the dying moments and if wilson scores, nz win and we lose.
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Ok, Ken, I admit Gregan's is good. Bloody good. But this takes the biscuit. 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 i can't find it on youtube but the other contender is topo rodriguez in an 1986 bledisloe. on hika reid from memory. massive. like a brick wall on the line. always gets a mention in any discussion of greatest ever tackles. helped win us the game. not rugby but some great stuff here. love the greg inglis one around 2 minutes.
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Nice Ken! That Cooper hold-up is astonishing!
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Ok, Ken, I admit Gregan's is good. Bloody good. But this takes the biscuit. i've seen that before and concede it good (not close to the inglis one - he stopped the bloke and stole the ball solo) but up against a tackle in the last moments of a game that wins a bledisloe cup battle? i'll stick with gregan (matt burke was later heard to say, according to some mates, that george made his entire career on one tackle - bit harsh). 1
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (matt burke was later heard to say, according to some mates, that george made his entire career on one tackle - bit harsh). That is harsh. He built it on "Four more years", didn't he? Lol
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 That is harsh. He built it on "Four more years", didn't he? Lol i'll take either. 1
Ken Gargett Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Another moment of Scottish joy. Not. i'm enjoying that one (well, you were up against the mighty japanese - not as though the scots would be favoured to win???). great tackle. gorumaru - the bloke who made the tackle -plays his first game for the qld reds tomorrow evening. poor bastard has no idea what kind of septic swamp he has landed himself in. 1
ayepatz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 As Ewan MacGregor says in Trainspotting, Ken, "It's shite being Scottish." Try explaining to anybody that David Sole wasn't Hutch.
JohnS Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I've really enjoyed this thread, brings back memories! Wasn't that Gregan try-saving tackle in one of his first games for the Wallabies? And on All Black great Jeff Wilson, which helped the Wallabies win the Bledisloe Cup? Around 2000...or am I misremembering? I remember watching the game though as it was close! One of the best try-saving tackles I've seen was during the 2003 NRL Grand Final. Scott Sattler pulled off a miraculous in-touch dive to prevent a sure try from a break in play. Penrith beat the Sydney Roosters 18-6 in an upset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CMfVP8s3rA Growing up in this Rugby League mad town (of Sydney) I always valued Steve Mortimer's cover defence. I remember this effort on Eric Grothe for Parramatta preventing a sure try. The Bulldogs won this 1984 semi-final 16-8, and the Grand Final against the same opposition two weeks later 6-4.
