maverickdrinker Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Been thinking of doing some tinkering and blend a couple of scotches together in little 50 ml miniature bottles to see how they marry together. Read this on another forum and was intriqued by a few of the results. For example, 1 part Ardbeg Uigedal with 3 parts Arbelour A'bundah. 50/50 between Eagle Rare with Buffalo Trace. Curious to see if anyone does this and if so, what are your blends that you have made and liked? Do you use little vials/bottles or do you use a small cask? TIA in advance for sharing. Gonna try that 1 part Ardbeg Oogie with 3 parts A'Bundah to start.
Fuzz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Can't you just pour one part Ardbeg with 3 parts A'Bundah in your mouth?
Duxnutz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I've been blending wheated bourbon for several years. Weller 12/Weller Antique 107 in a 40:60 ratio. Better than sum of its parts.
stogieluver Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Not sure this qualifies as vatting, but I occasionally blend rums, especially if I don't like a new one I'm trying. Rather than not drink it and waste it, I'll usually blend in some Myers dark rum, which is very sweet, and it will, most times, be very drinkable, especially mixed with coke.
bigharpoon Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I'm with Stogieluver, I mix things up when I have a drink on my hands that is boring by itself. For example, if I have a boring tequila I'll mix in some bourbon or vice versa. The Maestro Dobel I just went through got kinda old for me but mixed with some Wild Turkey 101 it was a lot better!
Lotusguy Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I've been blending wheated bourbon for several years. Weller 12/Weller Antique 107 in a 40:60 ratio. Better than sum of its parts. Seen that a lot of times and anxious to try but, alas, I can't frigging find the Weller 12
Easttide Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I do as well. Weller 12/ Antique 107 50/50 mix. By far my favorite bourbon. After 30 days or so it's magic how much it has changed.
