Colbert is way funnier.... Even if it takes a while to get his humour (if your unfamiliar). Dave wasn't funny (looked tired) the last decade or so.

I loved Letterman until he started injecting politics into his thing. After that he just seemed cranky and angry all the time.

Funny this should come up,I was just watching all of the above the other day.......and the Crispin Glover ones! I still can't decide whether Glover was just playing him like a string quartet and Letterman just didn't get it or whether he really is just a little unhinged.I think he falls somewhere on the Andy Kaufman line, just nowhere near as good.

Exactly, Like he was butthurt getting over The Tonight Show when Johnny left and just turned angry in general. While some people say he deserved The Tonight Show, I don't really think he did. I looked at the two like a bar. The Tonight Show was a classy establishment with all the nice decor and Rat Pack esq to it. The Letterman Show was more like the local pub that was a bit more rude and crude. Dave lost me the last few years when he started objecting his political beliefs into his entertainment.

Dave in his heyday was great, but that was 20+ years ago. I still appreciated his wit in later years, but the show had become almost unwatchable for me. Colbert may never reach the same heights Dave did, but he's miles beyond what Dave was in his later years.

Late night is just not the same with Dave gone.

Dave kowtowed to his liberal masters, rather than fight for all of our rights to keep enjoying relative freedom to smoke cigars. He could have/should have been a standard bearer, but was not. So I give not a fig for him.

You have got to be kidding. Sheesh.
