godpheonix Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi guys, the first one i had when these came out was good, i'd say a solid 89, and i could see that the flavors were a bit closed but i thought no more on the cigar until i lit one up recently. and WOW! this one blew me away. it was fantastic and had core RyJ flavors but with more intensity and mixed in with some of the chocolate and spice flavor that usually comes with the LE's. i gave this one a solid 94-95. what are your thought's or experiences with this cigar? regards, Steve 2
Fugu Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 No reply so far?!! Spot on, Steve! This is very similar to what I found - or let’s say what I do expect from this cigar. The Romeo de Luxe seems not to find a more general approval at the moment (also reflected by the high amount of posters to this topic). Which doesn’t surprise me, since it is absolutely no in-your-face cigar. And even I have to admit, up to date I only had a let’s say 89-90 pt smoke from these, the last one smoked about 6 months ago (patience!). But: My expectations with these were high right from the start. That is, because I think I do find some resemblance to the 2003 EL, the Hermosos No.1. Which now is a beautiful and rich cigar, among the best of what I have smoked of RyJ so far, and one of the best smokes in 2015 for me. That one also initially was a rather muted/mellow, non-expressive cigar and there were not a lot of lovers for it when it came out (myself included). With the young Romeo de Luxe I think I am reminded very slightly of that flavour profile, and it should - hopefully - develop nicely during the coming years. Perhaps I am wrong and this is all purely wishful thinking. But I took some boxes of the de Luxe in stock, will follow its development and am prepared to stock up even further. Your current assesment now makes room for some hope there. Let's talk again in 10 years..... Time to check back myself! Thanks for starting the thread, Paul
westg Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I did pick up a box two years ago from Rob ....never tried one ,that said this weekend catching up with the Perth boys ..will fire one up then...be sure to let you know 1
sactochris Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I think they are excellent. I don't think my box will last all that long.
maverickdrinker Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Here is my review when they were first released. Hope it helps https://thedirtyashes.wordpress.com/2013/11/27/2013-edicion-limitada-romeo-y-julieta-de-luxe/ 2

Lotusguy Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Another overpriced, oversized, generic LE chocolate stick. I am so glad I only bought and smoked two singles.

I am so glad I only bought and smoked two singles. i disagree. they don't all follow the same profile, not all the ones i've tried anyway. i admit not all are good cigars but then again we can say the same thing about regular production as well. i've had bad cigars in all marcas really. some a lot worst than LE's! 1
Diamondog Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Enjoy them very much especially at Cuba pricing, good value...
PapaDisco Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Had one with a friend last week in NYC's Club Macanudo. It was a great cigar, still showing youth in the final third, but wonderfully rich the whole way. Reminded me more of the Punch Gran Robusto than an R&J blend, but a wonderful smoke nonetheless. A box or two is now on my wish list.
kobsjones Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Just smoked the ONE I have. Nice Cuban flavor but nothing super discernible. Solid smoke but nothing great.
