El Presidente Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 LUB ENE 15 Cohiba Robusto Supremo. Just went through it and overall very good. You would be thrilled to receive this box of HQ. I reckon I would be getting an e-mail from you if you received this box. Same code. Same mastercase. 1
shlomo Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Is it colour or oiliness that is the big difference here Rob?
El Presidente Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Is it colour or oiliness that is the big difference here Rob? Wrapper and oiliness. the second is bone dry. not an inkling of oil or sheen. flat pale yellow.
shlomo Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Wrapper and oiliness. the second is bone dry. not an inkling of oil or sheen. flat pale yellow. Colour doesn't matter to me that much, but flat yellow/green is not very aesthetically pleasing. Dry, flat "matte" finish is no good.....lol Thanks
leftimatic Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Looks like the stuff the local B&M are trying to sell. No really. I was in there getting pipe cleaners the other day. $75 Cohibas that looked just like the bottom ones.

joeboxer Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 If I paid for a box of Supremos and received the bottom picture I believe I would have a heart attack. They look like dried out bundle cigars with Cohiba bands. Boxes like that are the reason people sometimes believe legitimate vendors are selling fakes. Although a "legitimate vendor" probably should not be selling those in the first place...
JohnS Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 This is an example why one should not buy blind. I find it hard to believe that these two boxes could come from the same mastercase but 'a picture is worth a thousand words' as they say!
El Presidente Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Generally CRS are good. The chances of getting the bottom picture would be about 5%. The chance of getting the top picture about 20%. The rest lies somewhere in between. Just a little too much coin to take the chance
aushy Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Just goes to show that chasing box codes is probably a pointless endeavour 1
phreedh Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Just goes to show that chasing box codes is probably a pointless endeavour Maybe not pointless, but less fruitful than some seem to believe. If buying blind, a "good" box code raises your chances. I would love to sample one of each of the above. Rob - if so inclined, could I order a box of each of the above type from you? It would be fun organizing a tasting of a "PSP grade" specimen and a "seconds grade" specimen.
SofaKing Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The top box could pass as Genios compared to that bottom picture. Amazing the difference.
leftimatic Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Are you from Meryville Quebec? Nope Vancouver Island 1
dangolf18 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Some of the best Cohibas I've had had light wrappers fwiw. It's not like they sort mastercases by color or anything so variation is to be expected.
skalls Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Yeah, but the lack of a sheen or oil in the wrapper would kill the enjoyment of that cigar. And leave an awful taste in my wallet.
