Ken Gargett Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 i know that there has been endless bile thrown against our human rights commissioner, mde triggs, and endless calls for her resignation, but i'll confess, with a touch of shame, that i have not bothered to read any details - i figure that the entire lot of them, bureaucrats and politicians and more, are as bad as each other. i vaguely recall something about deliberately withholding the results of an independent inquiry until after an election so as not to reflect badly on the party that appointed her (nothing that all sides would not expect). anyway, after the moronic decision this morning, i did have a squizz. makes you proud to be a taxpayer. this braindead gibbering moron (i don't want to go overboard but...) has handed out $6 mill to claimants in her three year term. i'm sure some are genuine and worthy. but... i'm not sure that $300,000 to a convicted american con artist, who got the dosh because said conman was held in detention for 22 months pending relocation, is clever. the reason they were there for 22 months was because he exhausted every legal challenge available (which we pay to defend) and which were described by the court as “frivolous, vexatious, embarrassing and (lacking) any support” i'm also not sure $140,000 to a Brit-Afghan dual citizen who was detained for two years while he pursued what was described as a “futile” asylum claim is the best use of our funds. i'm quite certain that $350,000 to an indonesian gentleman in detention awaiting extradition - to be paid because extradition has taken 7 years because he is fighting it - for the crime of bashing his pregnant spouse to death with a bicycle, is definitely not a wise investment of taxpayer funds. but today, the crowning glory. why the hell is this woman has any job is beyond me. especially this job. a kiwi was convicted of ramming his car into a pensioner, seriously injuring him, 'to scare him'. he got 7 years and was also to be deported after sentence. he is also, just for the record, a convicted kidnapper and armed robber. he chose to fight extradition. again, we have to pay the costs of every challenge he can invent. so he is held in detention for 17 months. detention because he was considered high risk. he lied to authorities to get here in the first place. he has lied about his record. the courts expressed “serious doubts” about the likelihood of him not committing another violent crime, noting his evidence “did not suggest clear insight … or genuine remorse” for the offences that demonstrated “a ruthless disregard for life and liberty”. authorities deemed him “unacceptable risk to the community”, hence why he was in detention. but because were not nice to him and let him out with, in this idiot's view, simply 'a curfew or reporting conditions', she has awarded him $100,000. also because detention interfered with his relationship (this would be a relationship that consisted of him meeting and marrying an aussie citizen within three months of release - i'm sure there was not a single thought in his mind that this might help him stay). anyway, all aussies get back to work so we can afford to pay these imbecilic awards and the salary of this fool - surely the greatest waste of all. spare us from garbage like her. 1
ShortFatHokie Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 At least she's only doling it out by the "hundreds of thousands", our US government hands out billions at a time...
Habana Mike Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 At least she's only doling it out by the "hundreds of thousands", our US government hands out billions at a time... If it weren't for the moratorium on US political discussion I could point out many and far greater transgressions as well......fully understand your outrage Ken. 1
