coblos Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Found this old box that belonged to my Grandfather. Possibly received as a gift as his name and what looks like a work address is written on the bottom. I remember him as a pipe smoker but dont ever recall seeing him smoke a cigar.Anyone know anything about this brand? Country of origin? Period?Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 1
JohnS Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Follow the link in my signature to Cuban Cigar Website. Flor Imperial in Spanish means 'Royal Flush'. It is not listed as a current or discontinued brand both during the post and pre-revolution periods. The best I could research was an obscure reference to Dutch cigars.

Where are you getting royal flush from. My Spanish is not great but imperial is the same meaning in both languages and flor is flower?
Habana Mike Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Interesting find when searching on this https://books.google.com/books?id=59UBUL-K_PkC&pg=PA223&lpg=PA223&dq=Flor+Imperial+-+Regalai+De+La+Reyna&source=bl&ots=orOYJPfwZf&sig=zVYp_-a0Hcaf_k2Vkug0EC8BpJY&hl=en&sa=X&ei=O7t0VZetOYnWsAWR_4DoDw&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=Flor%20Imperial%20-%20Regalai%20De%20La%20Reyna&f=false Cuba with Pen and Pencil from 1871, mentions Regalia Imperial and Regalia Reyna flor. Also Precioses Corrientes (Current Prices) from 1874 https://books.google.com/books?id=OjUVAAAAYAAJ
coblos Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks for the replys. With no solid answer it has me even more curious now. Closest I got was an add for imported havana cigars from a california paper 1852 "Imperio - Regalia De La Reyna" which may not be the same thing. The box did contain a very old hymn book and folded in the pages was a document dated 1863. My Grandfather wasn't born till 1910 so perhaps it wansn't a gift of cigars but just the box used to post something else.
