El Presidente Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 ......It appears harder not to to qualify http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2015/may/06/how-to-visit-cuba-without-falling-foul-us-travel-regulations 1
Habana Mike Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Interesting how this is being touted so much now. The general licenses have been in place with the same requirements and qualifications for some time. Nobody I know that's been in Cuba recently had to do anything but possess proof of qualification for a general license. 2
SCgarman Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Unfortunately as long as my wife is employed by a defense contractor and holds high clearances, I will be out of luck as far as visiting Cuba. Don't want to put her livelihood in jeopardy as it supports the both of us and our daughter. Maybe when retirement comes, that will be a different story.
stogieluver Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 My wife and I visited in 2012 under a people to people licensed trip. Doesn't sound like much has changed since then, except perception. We had a tightly controlled itinerary but were able to lay out one day from the tour group because my wife was "sick", and we had a great time with a private driver who took us all over Havana. 1

1LegLance Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 This is what is so funny to me....nothing has changed as far as the 2006 rules...yet perception has changed and that seems to be everything. I have been going for years and years....same thing everytime..professional research. Never been hassled. But I like that more people are thinking about going and enjoying the amazing world that is Cuba.
