A good friend brought out some fun bottles this weekend.

This bottle will be deeply missed once emptied.

Family still here for the 4th celebration. Dinner tonight was sous vide Chuck Roast at 132 degrees F for 24 hours and then seared in garlic butter in cast iron. Served with a 2008 Chappellet Pritchard

How was the Terra Di Lavoro?  I have a few different vintages, but never tried one.

I've only had the 07 and the 11. A bright style that's very enjoyable, but needing just a bit more complexity to bump them into the big leagues in my book.

I was able to find '13 & '14 in the cellar.

'77 Dow's for game 7 of the World Series. This bottle was as good as the game!

F*ing legendary. I have tasted that one, just once. Memory isn't perfect as it was many years ago, but if I recall it was deep and rich and potent, almost incandescent. Impressive!

Hard to describe how amazing this wine is!

a bit hard to tell from the pic but that looks like a Toro Albaia 1946 PX? they really do make stunningly rich and decadent sherries. not tried the 1946 but in one of our old videos, Rob and i tried the 45. i think i have one bottle left. great stuff.

john, i know exactly where you were for these. lucky man.

many years ago, i stayed in the place. was talking to one of the PJ people and i mentioned how much i liked one of the paintings on the wall. ah yes, he said, that is our toulouse latrec. it was next to their rodin statue. when they showed us around, they asked me  to be careful of the bed, which they had just had valued (along with everything else). the thing was basically a wooden base and not much more, as far as i could see. this is probably 15 years ago. 300,000 euros. needless to say, i did not sleep a wink.
