In an effort to do some "real world" testing on their new Hybrid Supercar, Porsche brought one of their new 918 Spyders to the Top End to give it a run on a stretch of open highway 50km out of Alice Springs.

This 200km stretch of road is completely speed limit free, meaning you can drive as fast as you want (provided its safe).

It would seem that "safe" for the Porsche 918 is 350kph

The drive set a new record for both a Hybrid Super car and the fastest speed recorded on that stretch of road (previous record was 250kph by a Darwin Local in his Aston Martin)

Thats magic I wonder if the driver of the previous record had his handbrake on.

I think he ran out of Balls, personally

That stretch of road isn't exactly racetrack quality
