earthson Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 humidor.jpghumidor2.jpg Here's what I'm working with. Ah! Another issue may be the extreme amount of empty space in the humi - more sticks (when properly acclimated to a certain RH) resist changes in the overall system RH much better than empty air. Time to get buying! I would caution again against 75%RH - that's getting into beetle and wood mite territory, not to mention that the sticks won't burn as well and could taste muted.
JohnS Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 My guess is that the 75rh Boveda pack is working hard to actually lift the rh in the humidor as I would imagine the humidor is in a room that is subject to heating. The ambient humidity in that room would be probably lower than 50 rh, hence the difference. I can only imagine how cold Chicago can get in the winter!

Average temp was under 15 for all of February.

DoubleDD Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but that would be Fahrenheit and not celsuis? That is very cold! Correct sir. At night the temps are routinely below zero without the windchill. Add the windchills and you are -20 to -30 some nights. Typical chicago winters. Also still about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground too. 1
