DoubleDD Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Interesting explanation Wilkey. It makes sense now. I'll have to give it a go.
Ginseng Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Cool. Do let us know how it goes. My experience is that cigars with dampened wrappers exude a richer, funkier aroma. This is a consequence of the effect on the combustion and is what ends up being perceived as "changed" flavor. Now, does this mean a damper wrapper results in the creation or release of aroma compounds that would otherwise not exist without the additional water? That is an interesting question about which we can only speculate. Wilkey
Smallclub Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I don't see how rinsing the wrapper of the cigar would have an impact on the taste of the cigar. Everything that has an impact on the wrapper has an impact on the way the cigar will smoke (whether the taste or the depth or the texture of the smoke). It has been discuted here many times, and for what it's worth, MRN rinse some of his cigars – he was very clear about it, on another forum. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99386&h http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98982&hl http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=101303&hl
