Nope, they are actually quite on the look out for very taxable items as from what i heard they have quotas to achieve.

And we use the word "rilek" not "lepak" in malaysia. haha

I must be lucky then. Have had multiple shipments since 2011 with no problems. I even walked thru KLIA with my coolidor when I moved back from Shanghai in 2011.

Oh you're talking about hand carry. For postal orders they're very strict.

I wouldn't buy from KLIA. I was there earlier this month and found mold on quite a few cigars. They've got their humidifier cranked up on high.

Ah ok...

There are 2 shops I normally go to, one near the rainforest walk and another after the Aerotrain to the right when going out.

KLIA cigars are from PCC and for Cohibas they are mosty 2013 stock. However i saw a dude who bought a box of CoRo and the appearance were very dull.

Just get a few packs of duty free cigars at KLIA when coming through. I think you are allowed to bring in up to 25 sticks.

You're allowed to bring in 50 sticks but its quite relaxed for hand carry cigars.

I see, I see.

Yeah they are quite relaxed for hand carries and I hear they are not too fussed about the size of the sticks, more just the number. You can be bringing in Monte A's and double coronas, so as long as you keep the number of sticks to the quota - it's all good.

Bumping this thread for advice from the locals in KL - which places are ok to bring your own sticks? I am passing through for 2 nights to see family next month and will have my own supply with me. Should note if I see any interesting sticks I will of course buy and sample!

I think every venue is ok with regard to bringing your own cigars to smoke as long as you are a customer. Grab a drink at the bar when you come in and have a ask.

At very worse, they may say "no" which I highly doubt will happen seeing that you are a paying customer. :)

went to Havana lounge and they were ok with it...I am actually back in KL between the 7th to the 10th of May for a wedding. You have to buy at Marinis on 57 but well worth the visit..Nobu is one floor down if you like amazing Japanese food.
