El Presidente Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I really have had some excellent examples of late with that cocoa, biscuit, touch of leather and earth coming through. Assuming you have a perfect example, colorado maduro in shade, great construction. Code ULA JUL 14. From your experience what would be your expectation as to when they would be ready for you to smoke. Use the poll and expand upon your thoughts here. I will run a series of these polls on the the top 20 sellers and provide and ongoing summary. To be fair, we will only list them if there have been sufficient responses for that cigar . It should prove a fruitful guide for others. Cheers! El Pres
terrantheman Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 God I love a good BRC young are great depending on the box you buy. But if ur patient then you will be rewarded because they get incredible.
Overproof Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 My one and only box has 3 years on it now and I certainly enjoy them more now than when purchased. A more pronounced molasses flavor for me now than there was before. Mine is a MUR code from memory. Haven't tried anything older than what I have for a comparison. It's to my liking so I'm getting into em now!
dflan82 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I have two boxes with the ULA JUL 14 box code and they a fantastic young. With another year or two they will become an absolute treat...if they last that long
Sophistic Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 <3y, i really love that fresh intense espresso-choc mix, with age it becomes more earthy - boring.
mk05 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Depends. 01-04 eh, spotty, felt like Tabacuba was still figuring things out. Most of the stuff died several yrs back. 05-06 was a strong year and really needed a lot of time. It was turning out well around 2012, so 6 years. Still going very strong. 07-08 not so much and were decent to smoke around 2010 and already very mature by 2012. Dying as of now. 09-10 was not powerful like 05-06, but richer in like a tobacco sense, so unreal fresh, that I had hidden several boxes all over the world. Unfortunately, I forgot where I put some of them. Fantastic immediately, and getting better with more age. Recently tried one in a LRE09 BRC tubo and it was incredible, like its LRE09 D4 cousin except more tangy and a bit lighter. 11-early 12 not so good, acrid tasting tobacco. mid 12-13 good signs. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves. 14 gross.
ag794516 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I voted for 1-3 years because the only two I had have been at this age. They were very tasty. Actually Bolivar is still missing in my Humidor. The RC is a cigar which I would take but the Bolivar Corona Gigantes is a few steps higher on my watch list. But no experiences with other Bolivars like the RC. A very good cigar. It has maybe some aging potential but tastes as good young.
madmarvcr Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I have a box MUR ABR 13, waiting till apr 2016, they seem to be great at 3 yrs. I don't notice much more improvement over 3 yrs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Firebender Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 The ones I have tried where better after 3 years
Yagermeister Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Got a box of MUR OCT 13 that are really coming around. Very smokable now. Another 6-12 months and they'll probably be the perfect mix of peppery intensity and smooth, rich flavor. 2-3 yrs is my vote.
Maplepie Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 1997s are smoking great right nowlmaoSent from the Enigma on BlackBerry Q10.
Laxman Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 97's are smoking very well. The 09's were the only ones I enjoyed fresh and are still lights out. Have a few boxes from 14 need to bust one out as I have tried ant yet. 5 years plus is what I voted.
