El Presidente Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Fingers crossed http://www.columbian.com/news/2015/jan/31/washington-may-bring-back-the-cigar-bar/
hoyopr Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Interesting if this goes through, perhaps a turn in the tide, we could begin to gain support for the difference between cigars and cigarettes.
OZCUBAN Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 good luck on your endeavours all I know is over here in OZ we have a snowballs chance in hell
Baldy Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 That would be great but I'm not holding my breath though. Too many people and governments who thinks they know what's best for me for this to happen.
nick2021 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Also have my fingers crossed, it would be great for cigar smokers in that area.
bradbrennan Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 from a state that has legalized marijuana smoking for recreational use seems like it should be a easy one 1
earthson Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 from a state that has legalized marijuana smoking for recreational use seems like it should be a easy oneThe legal MJ issue is different in 2 ways:A. There is almost no literature correlating MJ smoke to lung cancer (due to its formerly illegal status, there were no relevant studies performed exploring this subject, only poorly-funded, federal propaganda pieces) B. The amount of tax money Washington is set to make off legal MJ is leaps and bounds beyond what they would make off of an array of cigar bars. I've always felt that this ban was an improper application of the "Clean Indoor Air" Act, unless, of course, you choose to work in this environment. That's an OSHA nightmare! Still, Legalize Freedom!
Billb1960 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I've had a couple of conversations with the owner of 3 B&Ms, 2 in Portland, OR and 1 in Vancouver WA and he's very hopeful but still skeptical about this one passing. Too many "we must protect the people from themselves" advocates.

Good points on both A and B. The interesting counter-corollary with cigars however, is that there are several legal studies demonstrating the greater longevity of moderate cigar smokers versus the non-smoking population. Regard the following: Cigar Surgeon General.pdf 1

Regard the following: Do you have a citation on this study? I'm especially curious to know when this was published. The only longevity I saw was for "US Vets" and "Men in 25 states." I would love to see this whole study! Still, George Burns! 1
ImTripN2 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I'm skeptical too. You have to understand WA state is a perfect microcosim of the US political scene. Washington is divided in almost every aspect by the small urban western part with the majority of the population, and the rural eastern part. The west side is a solid democratic nanny state with plenty of extreme liberal views, and the east is solidly republican, god fearin' gun totin' folk... they even hate each others college football teams So just like Washington DC, nothing gets done, and if it will take a political vote, the western part holds most of the vote.
Billb1960 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Oregon is basically the same way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RickHendeson Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I personally loathe cigar bars because they inevitably stink (can't stop ppl from smoking El Ropos), but having more available is generally a good thing
