This was gifted by a true BOTL and captain in the industry. Not sure if it's truly an unbanded BHK56 or a custom.

Construction and measurements are spot on.

Who cares what it is, that's what I say.

Pairing it with Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros and first little bit is smoking wonderfully. Bit of a wonky burn but it's very breeze out tonight.

Seen many of these, as well as pre release 1966, coro supreme and others.

What's the point? Why not just get the normal cigar?

Because they're cheaper.

Personally, I agree with you. Unbanded seconds/custom sticks may not be the same animal unless they are made with stolen tobacco (which I understand Habanos SA is trying to eradicate)

Unless you're the guy/gal who knows your source well, you really have no clue what you're buying.

Hard question to answer. In this case it was gifted to me so I find it best to enjoy it unconditionally.

As far as why some people might buy unbanded cigars or banded cigars outside the normal distro chain, I guess it's normally price. If one can get comfortable enough with their source and get the price down far enough to where it's a good value, I guess.

Not my normal MO but to each his own I guess.
