Hash Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 What red wine recommendations specially from Portugal will go well with cigar smoking.
oliverdst Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Hey, Hash, I know it doesn't answer your question but I would go with Vinho do Porto or Vinho da Madeira. It's kind of liqueur. Just avoid a cheap brand and you won't go wrong.

Colt45 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Personally I don't like red wines with cigars, as I feel the cigar smoke really brings out the wine tannins and kills the wine. Also, for me, traditionally made still Portuguese wines are already on the tannic side. There are some great Portuguese still wines. Not Douro, but I've recently had a few bottles of Caves Sao Joao Frei Joao from the Bairrada zone which I enjoyed very much.
garbandz Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 with the glut of wine these days, the last place I would look is Portugal. Had a couple of Douro wines recently, certainly improved from 5-8 years ago,but nothing remotely special. Italy still has my heart for reds, amazing values and top tier winemaking , Australia is my go to for house wines, and party wines.
