Schumi5 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Hi All, I have a colleague who will be travelling through the Hong Kong airport in November. He has offered to pick me up some cigars from the duty free. I was wondering if anyone might have any experience with this airport and the duty free cigar selection. Any advice would be most appreciated. Definitely feel free to PM me if you are more comfortable providing the information that way. Thanks everyone in advance!
rckymtn22 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 The last time I went through Hong Kong which was about 1 1/2 years ago, the Cuban selection was poor and pricey. Better off buying from here. If he was going into the city, I think the selection might be better there. There was no dedicated cigar store in HK airport that i could find. The selection was better in Vancouver but way too expensive.
santela Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I remember their price is not competitive at all, you will get better deals with the Prez.
NJP Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I agree HK airport is not worth the worry on the island and in Macau different story.
MrGinger Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I was there last year. As others have said.....pricey and poor selection.
santela Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I agree HK airport is not worth the worry on the island and in Macau different story. Can you tell us more about Macau?
NJP Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 In Macau Cotai part of the Wynn casino complex and Holiday Inn is where you'll find the Cigar Emporium. It's Pacific Cigar company Owned. The shop is on the other side of the inner atrium gardens of the casino and before the shopping arcade. They have a sharp walk in humidor.
Tino Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Hong Kong is a great city to visit and smoke in, but not a great airport to send a mule through sadly
Blackham Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 +1 I was there last Nov, I only remembered seeing some RyJ and Cohiba, mainstream stuff Buddy of mine bought a fiver of Sig 2 there and let me try one, the storage condition is only ok On the other hand, liquor selection is impressive there.
fokker4me Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I was going to add it's better to ask them to pick up a bottle or two if you drink. I hear that the scotch and brandy selection is very good.
Schumi5 Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Thanks everyone for the replies and info, very helpful! Have a great weekend.
