Lant63 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I smoked a couple of these while in Cuba, and enjoyed it very much. Usually I do not like to buy EL cigars but when the prez had a sale I couldn't resist so I picked up a box. Pre-light: with a clip of my palio I check the draw and it is spot on. Lots of rich tones, coffee and hay on the pre-light draw. Drink pairing: Stella to start and Glenlivet 12 to finish Location: Dirty Frat House First Third: The cigar takes to the cedar spill quite nicely. At first there are a lot of floral and vegetal notes on the tongue. The finish is long and has a distinct cocoa taste that coats the palate. The cigar produces a good amount of heavy smoke. Half way through the first third the cigar switches gears and starts to taste of nuts and hay. Peanut butter starts to evolve as well. The Burn is spot on as well. Rich nutty notes continue to develop. The ash is holding strong, and the coffee return to close out the first third, Second Third: The ash falls right at the beginning of the second third. Hay and floral notes come to the forefront once again; they play very nicely with the peanut butter. The cigar reminds me a lot of a punch punch with a lot more cocoa and coffee notes, both of which I welcome with open arms. The burn does become a little wonky at this point, but I will try and let it correct himself. Smoke production increases and many of my fraternity brothers are asking me to try it. I refuse however, and hand them an H upmann PC to honor our late alumni JFK. Toasted nuts take over the peanut butter and floral notes. Each puff seems to be changing in flavor profile keeping me sitting at the edge of my seat. Final Third: Boom more coffee and more floral. It is like eating flowers while sipping black coffee. Not my favorite combination, but it is quite interesting. The finish however is great, the floral fades and cocoa coats the palate. I get slightly distracted as some other fraternity brothers ask to borrow my Dunhill lighter to smoke their "medicine". Fortunately the cigar stays lit, Roasted peanut butter finishes out the cigar. Final Thoughts: pretty good construction, draw was perfect but it did need some touch-ups. I enjoyed the flavor profile throughout, and I think these have gotten better since my last. I hope that the peanut notes take over some of the floral phases, but that is just a personal preference. These do need some more time to rest, so I am happy they come in boxes of 25. I did just receive these today, I will return to them again in a month’s time. Score: 89 1

alloy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Spot on review. I bought a fiver on another forum and quickly smoked through them they were so good. So when the overnighter came up with them on sale, they were sold out very quickly. I thought I had missed out. But then our wonderful El Prez had another sale of these and I jumped on them! Received them acouple days ago and even if they were in the air for seven days, I had to smoke one after two days rest. Just a great tasting stick.
Pedro2486 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 They're a cracking smoke! One of the best LEs IMO, but damn the price is harsh

I didn't mind picking them up at the sale price. 12 bucks a stick isn't bad at all in my opinion, especially for an LE. Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy

jvel79 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 They were gone faster than you could blink...I could only hope that he has something like that again, and I don't blink. Probably slim to none though.
