I have not smoked one of these in years… I think I may have a few around, but Churchill sized cigars, are not really my thing.

Okay, before I get corrected an El Morro is a pacos, and not a julieta #2.

When I think of SCdlH cigars, I love the La Punta. The La Punta is a far less produced and vastly superior belicosos (campanos). There are certain vintages of this cigar that are simply fantastic… I have found the El Morro the same. Some of these cigars, I am sorry I cannot remember vintages, were just fantastic…

I know that was not much help and hopefully someone will chime in with some relevant data for you on current vintage. I think they are worth a try if you have never had one…

Smoked a 2001 El morro recently and it was superb. Plenty around from this year too (for obvious reasons), and if you can get your hands on a box before you buy to check them over then you should pull the trigger. La punta, followed by the El principe are my favourite regular production San cristobal, but you won't be disappointed by these if you like this Marca.

Had a box of these from FEB11. They were pretty good. But some inconsistancy within the box.

By inconsistancy I meant in taste not construction. Should have been clearer.

if you you want to try larger smokes for me its hoyo dc punch dc and a ramon allones gigantes. I've had a few el morros but I'd say they need atleast 5-7yrs to reach there potential

El Morro is a great cigar but the smaller brother, La Punta is even better.

Either, way the El Morro is worth trying if you have never had the pleasure of trying one.

If you're looking for a larger format to smoke right now consider the Sir Winston.

Besides HDM DC (good) Punch DC (better) boxes I have the 2014 Rob selected, just great.

Why not get a sampler of all the longer one.

Finished off a box of those this July, they were AME DIC '12 ordered from a shady, fly-by-night site of questionable virtue but impeccable taste in Australia . . . lookaround.gif . . . not going to mention any names, but they are currently on the run from several Sydney hotel concierges and hiding out in the vicinity of Brisbane . . .ph34r.png

I'm generally a fan of larger stuff, corona gorda, churchills and DC's, but I do tend to favor a lighter palate than El Jefe does. That said, I found the El Morro's delicious, excellent and very consistent throughout the box. Not a plugged stick in the bunch and very approachable young, definitely not harsh. To me they were on the strong side of things, my more experienced friends loved them more than I, and the darker you like your sticks the more you'll appreciate these. In any event, that whole box went down in just one month so that's saying something.

I've gone through a few boxes over the years. Strong, molasses overtones, ages well. Love the cigar, and there really is nothing else quite like it in the size range.

Agreed about the La Punta love, but this is a serious 2 hour smoke and if you're wondering if it's worth it the answer is yes.
