Lauren Bacall has reportedly died

The veteran actress has died after a massive stroke at the age of 89, according to TMZ.

TMZ is citing an unamed family member of Bacall, who is well respected as a leading lady of Hollywood's golden era having starred in a slew of movies, including How to Marry a Millionaire, The Mirror Has Two Faces and Designing Women.

Bacall was also married Humphrey Bogart until his death in 1957. They starred togther in Key Largo in 1948.

The Bogart Estate, which hosts Bogart films in Key Largo, California, has tweeted its sorrow over the loss of Bacall.

She later married Jason Robards in 1961 but they divorced in 1969.

Bacall had three children.

LEGENDARY actress and screen siren Lauren Bacall is dead, aged 89.

The estate of her late husband Humphrey Bogart confirmed the news on Twitter.

TMZ earlier reported a family member told them Bacall had “a massive stroke” at her home on Tuesday morning.

Bacall was an American stage and film actress and model, known for her husky voice and sultry looks.

Born Betty Joan Perske in the Bronx, New York in 1924, she married Humphrey Bogart in 1945 and the pair remained together until his death from esophageal cancer in 1957.

At their time of marriage, Bacall was 20 and he was 45. They had two children, Stephen Humphrey Bogart and Leslie Bogart.

After a brief romance with Frank Sinatra following Bogart’s death, (“He behaved like a complete s---”, she later said) Bacall married Jason Robards Jr in 1961 and divorced him in 1969 mainly because of his alcoholism. They had one son, Sam Robards.

Bacall got her big break in the 1944 thriller To Have and Have Not when she was just 19. It was here she met her future husband Humphrey Bogart and was the first of many “Bogie-Bacall” films.

A star was born after she delivered the immortal line to Bogart: “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.”

Their son Stephen told People in 1996: “Everyone could see their love right there on celluloid. He was the great love of her life, and she his.”

She was also famous for her role in Key Largo.

Bacall is the only Oscar winner to be married to two other winners (Bogart and Robards).

The news comes just a day after the world was shocked by the death of another legendary actor, Robin Williams.
