I need a recommendation on brand for unmarked cigar bands.

Loosing track of aged singles as the collection grows :)

Seems sensible to use graphite pencil to avoid inks that may contact wrappers and possibly affect flavour over time

All responses appreciated

Honestly I would just use strips of computer paper. I don't see any benefit in buying unmarked cigar bands.

I just cut them in horizontal strips and hold the side without the writing on the cigar. Then I roll it up, so the writing is visible and tape it up with a tiny piece of tape. Economical and quick. You can also control how tight you want the band and such.

There are a number of plain bands available (google plain cigar bands - I'm sure members will advise), but you could also go the home made, low-tech way and make your own. Cut slips of paper, add slits, wrap around cigar engage slits - no glue, no adhesive, no muss no fuss:

You could also get single cigar zip locs and marks the bags directly, or tape a piece of paper with the info on the outside.

I know, not much help......

Well, why didn't you say so? You have to go with the embroidered silk bands from extendedpinkybands.com. And they're not made from just any silk - they're made from the silk of the Himalayan silk worm, found only on the mid section of Annapurna. They are difficult to harvest and produce only a very small amount of silk per year - it takes millions of worms to make these bands, and the worms (along with, at times, the harvesters) perish fairly quickly.

But it's worth it - even though you can't smoke the bands, just like you can't smoke normal paper bands, you get to say you have the very best.......

Of bands.....

The Annapurna worms are rather pedestrian. I much prefer the silk from the Antheraea Assamensis worm used by the Royal Family of Assam. If you really want the best of the best, Muga worm silk is the only way to go. They make the best cigar bands. I think they can be found on hoitytoity.com but they may be sold out.

Well sure, if you want to get all Royal Doulton - but for exclusivity......

Just get your jeweller to make platinum rings with engravings for each cigar.

So passé.... smile.png

Unobtanium or nothing!

Paul, check with Dan (H4rty82) on the other forum. He labels all his sticks.

Some say Bob Ramstad's bands are the best.

I just use his bands so I cannot compare to other ones.

PM sent.

These look great - love the self-adhesive. Sounds like a group buy may be in order.....

Thanks Firebender, I was aware of the Heartfelt bands but have been advised they aren't that good ( not sure why exactly... )

Hence asking more experienced smokers than me...

I use heartfelt bands and to be honest they aren't good.

The 2 pack glue they use on the bands (the glue will only stick to itself, not the cigar) is a good idea in theory as it save possible wrapper damage but it doesn't stay stuck for very long.

I have around 200 singles that have been banded but after a week or so in the wineador they come apart and won't stick back together so I need to use bits of sticky tape to ensure they stay together.

I've got maybe 50 left out of the 500 I ordered and I won't be getting anymore.

I've heard good things about some other brands so I'll be watching the results of this thread

Bob' bands work great, for those that are looking for a cheap alternative I used to use ''Post It Note Pad''. Just cut into strips the width you want and wrap it around the cigar, they come off just as easy when you're ready to smoke it.
