Names's George, when I first got into cigars I struck up a relationship with the local cigar shop and let them baptize me into the world of cigars. They were good and bad influences.

The good. I learned a lot from them and had made good solid friendships.

The bad. I overpaid, but that was the cost of my education so no hard feelings. But I think for years my dispensation towards Cubans was not really my own. I generally believed the discussion around the table that they were for the most part over rated and the few I had did nothing to change my mind but honestly I went into them with a negative mindset.

So after years of hanging with the same group I moved, and old habits and ideas die hard. But the other night I had a cigar with a new friend that had my mind rethinking my tastes. So I'm here to learn and get myself exposed. I'll be up all night reading what you guys have shared. Thanks

P.S. to make this fun and valuable when you respond could you give me your desert island cigar. What i mean is what if you we're stuck on a desert island and had an unlimited supply of a single Cuban production cigar? (Not aged or limited release, something I can try easily)

Welcome George to FOH. You'll learn a lot about cubans here.

Where are you from?

Hey warren516, I'm in Glendale, CA. Any suggestions? Maybe your top five Cuban cigar list. (Not aged or limited release but things I can find easily)

Thanks

Try them all if you can! (At least as many as possible). And then make your choices according to your own taste!

What was the cigar which made you change you mind? If we know that, we will know something of your own tastes and will be better able to direct you towards something comparable or ... totally different!

All the best,

Michel

Welcome. Whenever I gift a Cuban cigar to a smoker that only smokes NC's I apologize in advance for what usually follows. ;+)

Wow, 20 years to make the move, you'll find many favorite cc topics here. But you need to try some of Rob's samplers to help find your favorite! It'd be cool to see a post of your journey after you smoke 20 plus from a sampler.

Welcome to foh, and the world of great cigars.

Would also advise a newbe to cuban to buy the sample and go exploring. To answer your question, id suggest juan lopez nr 2, as it is a very versatile cigar,

Some of the Cuban cigars I have had over the years, mind you I don't know if any of these were real and I also don't know some of their correct names but worst of all I smoked each with an unwilling attitude

1st Rafael Gonzalez panatella

2nd Bolivar Royal corona

3rd Ramon Allones selected

4th Monte piramides

5th cuaba divino

And maybe a few here or there. But the one I experienced lately was a PSD4 it was a good smoke but more than that it was the perspective that my new friend imparted to me. I held to too many negative stereotypes of Cuban cigar and Cuban smoker stereotypes. I guess I'm here to challenge those ideas. I'm assuming I'll meet some good guys here

Welcome to the forum.

There are so many and countless cigars that are available to try.

One of my all time favourites is the Vegas Robaina Unicos. ok.gif

Hey George. Spend some time on the forums, read a bunch, and you'll get the hang of things around here. That's coming from a new member – easy to feel right at home with this good lot!

Cheers and welcome.

G'day George and welcome. SLR A and if you were planning a rescue off the island it would need to be between cigars.

I got really lucky when I ordered my first few boxes. Not knowing anything and not being a member of this forum, I ordered a box of PSD4's, Bolivar Belicosos, and something else.

Five that you won't be disappointed in;

Monte 2

Upmann 2

PSD4

Partagas short

Upmann 46 ----- or 50 if you like larger ring gauge.
