stonedpirate Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Don Pepin Garcia My Father #1 Robusto Nearing the end of my noob reviews, down to my third last non cuban before I start on my cubans on Saturday. I must have been subconsciously saving the best for last as this was by far the best out of them all. Completely what I am after. Great size, beautiful construction, tastes exactly the way you expect a cigar to taste. Every puff was a pleasure and didnt want this one to end. I seem to say in most of my reviews that the current one is better than the last. Either I am getting addicted to nicotine and each one is more satisfying or its because I smoked them from cheap to expensive. Regardless of the cost, this really was the best. As a noob with an undeveloped palate I cant really say why it was the best, just that I enjoyed more than the others. The smoke had a nice taste, was thick and creamy, burn was perfect and couldnt find one fault in this cigar. Could happily smoke these every weekend for the rest of my life I'm hoping my cubans blow this one out of the water but I think this is the one that sets a good benchmark for the cubans to beat. Will be interesting to see how Saturday goes with the Monte Cristo #2.
Carts Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 nice review. would have been nice to see all these reviews in one thread
stonedpirate Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Yeah, sorry about that. I didnt expect to do this many so quick, thought it would be a weekly thing. Good news is, the flood of noob reviews will be over on saturday and my cuban reviews will be in one thread, ending in my final pick of smoke for life hopefully and that will be the end of me lol.
Carts Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Yeah, sorry about that. I didnt expect to do this many so quick, thought it would be a weekly thing. nothing to be sorry about, I just meant for viewing purposes.
stonedpirate Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Oh right, yeah, probably would have been better in the one. Oh well. Thanks for reading
tmac77 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 nice review. likely one of the only NC's that I have tried that I truly enjoyed.
Skyfall Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Anxious to hear your thoughts when you get around to the Habanos. Be careful not to try and compare the NC's to the CC's too much, they are entirely different animals, apples and oranges in my opinion. Monte 2 is not a bad way to start the Habanos reviews!
bradbrennan Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I wouldn't get in a big hurry about finding the 1 cigar to smoke for the rest of your life, if you are enjoying those nc's good for you, you might as well smoke a bunch of them variety is the spice of life. Unfortunately they don't do anything for me anymore 1
stonedpirate Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Thanks guys. My plan is to find a staple that I will order by the box. I dare say I will smoke the occasional different cigar on the side just to make sure my staple is still the best I liken it to cigarettes. I smoked the same brand at the same strength for nearly 10 years. Whenever someone at the pub or a party or where ever would give me one of their smokes, I would smoke it but still prefer one of my own. I think once I find a cigar that i grow accustomed to, i doubt i will feel compelled to smoke other cigars if they are not as good as what my humidor is filled with.
imangelo Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I enjoyed this cigar but not quite as much as the Flor de las Antillas. The No 1 was much spicier for my palate.
