i know rob is a fan of man city. i don't ever go in for the 2nd team idea but if the gunners are not winning (and great to see wenger back on the podium), then i would much prefer to man city winning than any of the other key competitors - chelski, man U, pool, spurs.

but after reading about toure today, not so sure.

for me, what will be about the only thing that prevents city winning a bucketload of cups etc?
players with big heads, monster egos and petty little spats.
i gather toure gets 200K pounds a WEEK! and he is threatening to leave the club because someone forgot to wish him happy birthday. when he was on an all expenses paid holiday to saudi or somewhere. someone else got a car and he didn’t. what a monumental tosser. does that sound like a team player?
i was a fan of his. now – worse than the special one.
he deserves to break his legs and never play again.

Pathetic, isn't it?! This is the same player who only a month or two back claimed that he was not given enough recognition due to his being African (although that apparently was initially claimed on his behalf by another player)

I would think that the agent is pulling all his strings behind the scenes,of course. But I agree with what you're saying and unfortunately this is exactly the kind of thing that puts people off the game in general.

On the Arsenal thing, how do you see the immediate future now Ken? As you said, great to see them winning again and Wenger has certainly bought himself some time but I think now that they really MUST build on Saturday's success. If the next say two seasons are similar to the previous nine then I think that'll be his lot.

A couple of big signings in the summer is a must I think and I'd be confident in predicting that Mesut Ozil will have a much better season in 2014-15,he's had a lot of criticism this year but everyone takes time to settle.Look at Dennis Bergkamp when he first came, for example.

yep disgusting really when you think of that kind of lolly splashed around. Quite a few prima donnas knocking about in the game. If you take a look at Spanish Football (Mr. Ronaldo Real Madrid), the guys head is about to explode! Far too much money in the sport and not enough heart.

they really need to attract a few top players. shame about losing sagna but we can't compete with the massive dollars. but no one picks talent like wenger - sure, some duds but some stellar picks.

i think they'll get vela back. apparently in the sale contract. we can get him for about four mill, i think? while his value is at least three/four times that.

need a solid midfielder, a top striker, and a back. and a reserve goalie. but rather than simply picking positions, they need depth with quality players so if we cop injuries like this year, we don't collapse.

going to be a great season next year. chelski always there or thereabouts; man c has so much cash they can buy a flag again, man u supposedly spending 150 mill - though the trouble they have is no champions league for players; pool should challenge though i can't understand all the talk about selling suarez, especially after the crap last year. why would you? who do you get that is better? and without him, they are not top two. they may not have been top four. and of course, spurs will make noise before disappearing up their own arse again.

ps - completely agree re ozil. absurd to expect him, especially the sort of player he is, who needs to build trust, understanding and combinations, to come in and star year one. he'll be seriously good next year.

Worrying thing is that he was seriously good the first 5 games and then the form disappeared or seriously patchy at best. Injury? mental fagility? Coach/players conflict?

Players coming into the premiership from abroad always seem to need a season to adjust to the speed and intensity of the games, Ozil I'm sure has the class to shine.

There is always the spector of Juan Sebastian Veron lurking though!

Arsenal seriously need a back 4 that didn't learn their trade off a travelling tinker, a 20 goal a season striker will pretty much guarantee them to challenge for the league if the defense is sorted imo

bit harsh.

he did suffer from injury and form dipped a bit but if you look at the figures of assists etc and he was very good. i think he scored goals at a much higher rate than he ever did at madrid, but there and here, he was never seen as the 'goalscorer'. i think that he is such a subtle player that much of what he does goes largely unnoticed. couple of poor games but plenty of good performances. i think that most realistic arsenal fans are pretty happy with his frst season, but do expect more next year.

the bloke has played plenty of soccer. 100 games plus in germany, 100 games plus for real madrid; 50 plus internationals for germany. still young. so don't buy mental fragility.

and no hint of conflict. quite the opposite. wenger obviously loves him. he has done nothing but rave about wenger.

if he had gone to chelski or moneybags city, he'd have not had anything like the spotlight on him that he has at the gunners. and i think both those sides would have been happy with this for a first season.

What puzzled me this season, and I'm a Man United supporter so after this campaign I'm certainly not judging, is what happened to make Arsenal collapse in February? They were rolling over almost everyone and then....could barely put a pass right and fell to fourth again. What is it about Arsenal that makes them collapse like that almost every year?
