rmill3r Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Still new to the world of CCs here. So far, I can easily say I've loved (or at least really liked) everything Cuban I've had. One of my favorites, though, has been the Bolivar Belicoso. I've only had one (and the guy I traded it for didn't know/couldn't remember the box date), but it was everything I wanted from a CC and more--toasted bread, lightly warm spices, and a nice creamy hazelnut. I've heard from a number of people, though, that the Bolivar Belicosos Finos just aren't good unless they have some considerable age on them. In your experience do you find that to be true? Ever since getting into CCs I've been experimenting with aging and I finally have a big enough stock that I can age my cigars while still enjoying one every once in a while, but I have to admit I may not have the patience to sit on a cigar I enjoy so much for so long. Just want to see if anyone has thoughts on whether or not you have to sit on them for very long or if some Boli Belis are known for being tasty fresh as well... Cheers! EDIT: Also, are Bolivar Belicosos Finos good enough for a blind purchase or are they really worth getting hand picked boxes for?
CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 If Rob has them in stock then you are fine ordering from the cart, el prez doesn't put up for sale boxes that don't meet the standard. It might be worth emailing Diana to see if there was any hq picked out at the warehouse last week, it cant hurt to ask
rckymtn22 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 If you want a hand picked box, looks like there are some HQ boxes of BBF's left in the Welcome to today's Live from the Humidor thread.
jrb5783 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 One on my first boxes two years ago was BBFs and they were fantastic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
potpest Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I've smoked through half a Oct 2012 box of bbf and they have been good from 6 months old, the last one I had recently was beautiful. In my experience Bolivars are good young but start to become something special at 3 years plus. Try the PCs aswell, fantastic young.
DoubleDD Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 The BBF and PC are two of my faves. In my opinion, I enjoy both of them young.
Firebender Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Just got HQ box of BBF couple of weeks. Dark & oily pungent aroma. I had to smoke it right away. I enjoyed the first two very much, but realized on the third one that I am making little too much effort on draws. So put them away for few month. Aside from little tight draw, it was great. I see myself digging in this box few months later
sw15825 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 This is a cigar that ages very well. It gets better and better to me with time, turning in to flavors you described so that one I guess had some years on it at least. But honestly I find the most enjoyment with smoking the cigars until I find them less enjoyable or they are tasting flat then let them sit for awhile and dip back in in sometime later depending on how many other sticks you have to smoke. As long as you enjoy it is what counts, no matter the age. Besides most cigars seem to be smoking better at younger ages over the last few years, to me, even more so since 2011 box dates forward. Smoke em while you like em.
matgerado Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Also received a HQ box of BBF 3 weeks ago. Brilliant cab of cigars. Great flavours. Smoking great at the moment.
