Ken Gargett Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 to the computer experts out there, not sure if anyone can assist but a couple of issues. as rob well knows, and as he'll no doubt hear again this arvo for our next video, for which he better bring something decent given his "recommendations" re computers in the past, i don't get on particularly well with technology and my current electronic anchor causing way more problems than usual. my "expert" is not returning calls. i may have suggested his choice of the anchor was less than inspired and he may have taken offence. first, i go to recharge the Ipod but nothing happens. lots of fiddling and finally the computer tells me it has corrupted the Ipod and won't/can't restore. never had a problem before. of course, it is possible that the Ipod just died (do they do that?) but i much prefer blaming the computer. that is a lot of springsteen lost in the ether. next, the stinking heap of crap suddenly deleted every word from the spellcheck. which basically means that when i write something, every word comes up needing checking or adding to a brand new 'dictionary'. any way to retrieve? any assistance much appreciated.
Ken Gargett Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 bloody computers! bloody Ipod. 3 days i spent trying to get so much as a whiff of life and not so much as a flicker. i post above and just think i'll give it one last hurrah and bugger me, it springs into action as though nothing is wrong. but the spellcheck still a crock.
Skyfall Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 OFF TOPIC: Bruce is playing a free 3 hour concert tonight in Dallas. Due to the weather it's not too packed and could get very close to the stage. 1
OZCUBAN Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Hi Ken not sure if i can help you ,as i am not sure of your situation,as in age of said iPod and computer have you tried rebooting the computer and iPod. the only advice for future reference is to buy a mac they are a lot more user friendly and to regularly back up your stuff, as you are probably ware of by now ,i wouldn't worry about the bruce stuff as it more than likely resides on the computer any way and can be restored once you get iPod working and do a restore from iTunes (to iPod ) cheers steve

This is apparently now my fault and the computer technician I recommended because he takes care of my family's computers/network and is the only person in this state who would work with Ken. To put it all in perspective....we are talking about a man who "got rid" of his brand new Mac Book Pro because it was a "piece of junk"

Due to the weather it's not too packed and could get very close to the stage. do not miss it! be the only good thing that happens in dallas this year when the season starts! i sent the download of the brizzy concert to a mate who is a big fan and has seen him in concert for 30 years. his response is not actually printable on a family site such as ours. suffice to say, he'd not heard better. this is it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi8NcVWOEig
Ken Gargett Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 many thanks to all, bar the site's crown prince (should that be clown prince) for suggestions. much appreciated. as for said prince, today you are back to vegemite jars. you brought it on yourself (a really spectacular cigar may see a small upgrade).

MIKA27 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 i go to recharge the Ipod but nothing happens. lots of fiddling and finally the computer tells me it has corrupted the Ipod and won't/can't restore. never had a problem before. of course, it is possible that the Ipod just died (do they do that?) but i much prefer blaming the computer. that is a lot of springsteen lost in the ether. 1: When you say recharge your iPod, is this USB to the PC and into the iPod or wall mount charger? Could be a problem with the cable itself. 2: Do you often back up your files from the iPod or iPad to the PC - That way you shouldn't lose anything. 3: Hard reset on the device - Been a while since I had an i-device, but if I recall, holding volume Úp' button and the power together for approximately 10 seconds normally reboots the device. next, the stinking heap of crap suddenly deleted every word from the spell check. which basically means that when i write something, every word comes up needing checking or adding to a brand new 'dictionary'. any way to retrieve? You're on your own there mate, haven't a solution but happy typing!

Regarding the spell checker, I assume you mean MS word? Please follow the below steps to fix this problem Open the word--> Review-->Set Language Make sure that language is selected and the right one is chosen and do not check spelling is not checked, if it is checked please uncheck that option. Reopen your document and see it's working now Now go back to Review --> Set Language. Check the option to check spelling
